I don't know if its against forum rules to say it, but if you feel like it, you should head over to 'that website' and download the update.
Also, I am using it on my UK vodafone model, with an orange sim on the 'custom NZ ROM', and everything works perfectly, so if there are any 'region specific' modifications that are being made, they are going to be useless voda apps (NZ update is pretty clean). Now we know they are just making us wait.

Not quite so fine... there is a legacy glitch on the ICS spellchecker which seems to have been carried forward to the NZ ver. It can be fixed with a script correction found on the M0dac0 page, under "ICS Spellcheck fix". As it stands it keeps asking for every word (underlined in red) to be added.

If you can send me a PM with the link too that would be fab. I've been tootling around with the various methods of applying custom ROMs and they all fail. A proper OTA update would be just the job ![]()

Nope, although i bet if you look in the little brochure, it will tell you it does, voda are telling some porkies, it will come to the device, but when just depends on how long it takes them to get bored of stringing us along...

Hey guys,
Thanks for your posts.
At the moment we don't have any information on when ICS will come to the G300. I can confirm it was launched with Gingerbread 2.3 with the claim of it being compatible with ICS.
If anyone can provide me with evidence of the claim that it comes with ICS then I'll investigate.
Cheers,
LeeH

New Zealand Over The Air Update
Right. After giving the forum rules a skim, I've decided to go ahead and post a link for the NZ ICS update on Modaco, which after a day of use is still great, however, the spelchecker is pretty crap. But that is the only issue, otherwise its really nice, (i think cleaner is a good word). I dont really see why I wouldent be able to post this anyway, as it is an official vodafone update, and does not requre you (nor am i encouraging you to) root you phone.
So here it is
. You'll want to download the file under the subtitle 'Full update' if you want to avoid rooting your phone and voiding your warranty.
All you need to do is extract the folder, and place the folder labled 'dload' in the root of your external SD card (if you dont have one they cost a fiver or so). Make sure there are no other folders with this name. Then on your phone you need to go to settings --> storage and select software update (it may be labled SD card update).
BACKUP
Now i would suggest backing up your data before you update if possible. There is a Huawei backup program which is in the update (but not on gingerbread for some reason). I was able to extract the apk and you can download it HERE. If you can use it in gingerbread (i havent tried) then you should be able to restore your contacts, apps, messages and so on after the ICS update.
To install, simply place it in the root of your SD and find it with the file explorer. After the update, the app should be installed by default.
As a note, the post states that you should only flash to B926 and above, this is only the case if your phone is rooted and you want to use the .zip file. The Full update will work for any software build.
If mods feel the need to remove the links (or the post), then feel free to send me a PM and I'll send you all the links you need.

Actually, heres a link to a nice fix for the horrible dictionary. I just used it myself, and i can confirm it works. Clearly use the first method.

@PandaKing
Great guide!
I used the Dictionary Fix on my Tablet... Nice! ![]()

Yes, the NZ ICS update comes with a fully functioning version of google play. Here is a list of the apps included in the update:
ICS Stock apps:
Browser, Calculator, Calender, Clock, Gallery, Messaging, People, Phone, Search, Google play
Other Google Apps
Gmail, Google +, Lattitude, Maps, Messenger+, Navigation, News and weather, Talk, Email
Huawei Apps
Camera, File maneger, FM Radio, All Backup, Sound recorder and weather clock (which includes widgets)
Something I failed to mention, and I apologise, I simply forgot, but according to some users, the B936 ROM has slightly lower maximum system volume. (i dont think is as bad as the launch bug), but heres a warning all the same.
And yes, if anybody is worried that this is some bastardised form of ICS, it is not. Its a fully featured, fully and smothly running version of ICS. Everything that ICS can do, G300 can do.
Exept Face Unlock ![]()

just thought id let everyone know who's curious, ive done the update and this works beutifully,
simly download and extract the zip, format your memory card and place and DLOAD folder (and all that lies within) onto your memory card,
then go to settings>storage>SD Card Update, and sign your life away,
DONT worry if the phone reboots about 10 times after its finished, its all okay, just needs a moment to sort its bit self out,
DO enjoy
P.S, any vodafone people who are wondering if this picks up the uk network, it picked mine up without having to touch anything,
you might have to re set up your internet APN's, but if you know what that means, then that shouldnt be an issue for you,
all credit goes to Pandaking for his find, i owe you a pint son! ![]()
