Hi
Ive never been one to mess around with the firmware on my phone, but i think this is an exception thanks to Vodafone re-releasing the failed B936 NZ update.
I have never experienced such a laggy, slow and simply insulting ICS update ever.
My options are to either downgrade (means tha i have to get used to GB again, which i dont want to do) or move to Huawei stock rom (any version)
I need some help as to decide which to do, Move over to stock or downgrade
I would greatly appreciate the help
Thanks Craigy1892

For the record I thought I would let people know about the problems this 'upgrade' has caused. There are probably more with my phone, I have not found them yet.
- Phone sluggish and unresponsive for about 1 minute after restart
- Browser struggles to load pages when using 3G
- Cannot connect to VPN
- Quick boot does not always work
- Cannot text or phone from contacts list
- Keyboard always resets to touchpal upon restart
- Calander freezes
- Direct dial and direct text widgets always removed upon restart
I am going to try and do an upgrade back to GB, yes I do mean upgrade!
I would like to try and make a claim against Vodafone for a breach of contract (I too was promised ICS 'soon' at the point of sale) and bill them for the hours I have wasted trying to get this downgrade to work. I am not happy, I still have to go back to GB and spend hours setting the phone up again.
If anyone is reading this and is thinking of going to the present version of ICS, think hard, is it really worth it?

Hi
Ive finally given in and am now installing the stock B936 firmware (Also, i wont lose my warranty), so im going to be very happy.
As regards to the last message, i would just revert back to GB if you wish and keep waiting for either the new Huawei update or the new Vodafone update (I dont mean the current version)
Thanks Craigy1892

Hi zxz1
Re your question about reverting to GB, the only answer I have seen is to go via the Huawei website - see my message 367 earlier in this thread for the link.
For me it worked fine, and a few others seem to have had a similar experience. At first I thought maybe I was imagining it, but I'm now quite sure that my phone is running better than it did to begin with. You end up with B895, whereas I started out with B892, and I suspect they may have fixed a few minor glitches.
I haven't had issues with my phone actually overheating, but it was using the battery very heavily while on ICS, whereas it seems to be back to normal (or at any rate sensible) levels now. There seemed to be virtually no RAM available with ICS, which I presume both slows down performance and increases the work rate.
Ann.

Also
I have found that B927 Demo ICS is the most fastest and smoothest version around, why dont Vodafone release that version and pull the B936 update.

Hi
The B927 ICS rom is here, B927 parts 1 & 2
You will have to extract the middle package first.
If not the update will fail.
Thanks Craigy1892

Hi
The B927 ICS rom is pretty fast, but has only one problem that i can find and that is the broken dictionary, but you can get the fix here.
To do the spellcheck fix, you need to turn on USB Debugging on on your phone, unzip the folder and run the appriopiate script.
dictfix-linux.sh, dictfix-mac.sh or dictfix-windows.bat
This will backup the current IME and Dictionary and installs the new ones, If successful, its up to you if you want to delete the fix or not from your SD card.
Hope this helps

Hi All
The next step is for Vodafone and Huawei to work on bringing JB 4.1 to the G300, as ive heard somewhere that its in development stage (Just a rumour).
I know Vodafone will say that they have no information on possible firmware updates, but could they please give us a clue as to if they are they working on 4.1 or not.
Thanks Craigy1892

Hi everyone
I’m pleased to say that Huawei will begin rolling out the new G300 software (B952), that will address the broken dictionary issue, from Wednesday 28th November. We’ve tested the other problems you’ve reported and haven’t been able to reproduce them in this new software.
Thanks
