Can't use 2 different dongles in the same laptop! HELP!

I've been using an E172 on my DELL laptop for work for more than 2 years with no problem. I bought another Dongle for private use ( K3805-Z)  and I can't connect.

1.- I simply plugged in the new one, it recognized the older version and desinstalled it automatically ( I'm happy to use just the New dongle). It doesn't work.

2.- I then tried to quit the new dongle in the "management section" and then enable it again (as suggested). It doesn't work.

3.- I then desinstalled all the software in the computer myself through "installed/desinstalled" programs, and then started from scratch with the new modem and software. It doesnt work.

4.- I then tried the new dongle in a different computer which had no previous vodafone dongle installed. (I can see network availability but it doesn't connect!! )

5.- I also tried the new SIM card in the Old Dongle and it shows network but It can't connect.

Just let you know there is no problem with the network coverage (3G) , since the old £172 always worked amazingly.

Any suggestion? How much time do I have to cancel my contract if I can't sort out this connection problems?

Thanks,

HI ZEQUI and welcome to the eForum

Thanks for your post here. I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with this. I appreciate how frustrating this must be for you.

As the modem isn't working on either machine the problem may actually lie with the modem itself. When you have tried it in the other machine you say it doesn't work, but what is actually happening? Do you get to the stage where you click connect? If you do what error message do you get when you click connect?

Do you get any error messages on you main machine at all ? Apart from the software uninstalling?

Please let me know and we'll be happy to help you further

Thanks

Wayne

Re: Can't use 2 different dongles in the same laptop! HELP!

The k3805 is a new generation fast modem, but the V10 VMC "lite" it carries will install over the old version. Problem is the new version VMC "Lite" often does not support the old dongles.

You need to download the new Full Variant V10 from the business site to replace the V10 lite, and ignore the warnings about not being suitable for the UK - it is!  That version will support many dongles.

NB The "approved for UK" 9.4.6 will not support the 3805
