This would depend on the length of the progamme, and the quality of the transmission.

For example, one of the BBC "Frozen Planet" wildlife programmes in HD (vmode flashhd) is about 1.2GB, from memory.

I'm not sure that using the cell network for streaming HD content is really what it was intended to cope with, to be honest!

So why are they advertising it as broadband, sounds like another British rip off.

Because it's not dial-up speeds, that's why!!
If you want 'proper' broadband get cable or ADSL if both are avalable near you, assuming you can afford it.
