K3565 - Connected, but no internet

Hi,

I have been happily using my Vodafone USB Modem for the past 2 years, but since last week I can no longer access the internet. I am using version 9.3.5.11690.

When connected data gets sent out (up to 2KB) and very little data recieved (usually less than 1KB). I still have plenty of credit (£10) and can successfully perform a "traceRT" from the windows command prompt, which returns the following info:

"C:\Documents and Settings\user>tracert www.vodafone.co.uk

I strongly believe HTTP: access is being blocked from your end, and has been for the last week.

If I log-in to www.vodafone.co.uk from my landline connection (using another ISP) and try to visit the "My Devices" page I get an error message:

"Sorry!  Unfortunately this functionality is currently unavailable"

This has also been happening for the last week, again supporting my theory that it is your end that is the source of my problems. Can someone please look into it and find out what is happening. Incase it helps, the first part of my postcode is CB24.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the signal strength is good (3 to 4 bars) and the connection is via GPRS (E160X).

"Sorry!  Unfortunately this functionality is currently unavailable"

That is quite normal with parts of that site; a great deal of the website functionality hasn't worked since I have been a subscriber (i.e. months). People complain but often nothing is done because it can't always be reproduced in the support office.

I guess if you only have GPRS and not 3G it's more likely to time out, and hopefully it is a temporary thing due to everyone using 2G to phone each other in the bad weather. It certainly takes a complex route!

Unfortuately that is part of the problem. I can use the Mobile Connect Lite software and see that I have multiple other signals available from other communication companies, but roaming is disabled. The only way I know to enable roaming is via the Devices page, which as I stated above gives me an error message! :smileysad:

Re: K3565 - Connected, but no internet

Roaming will not help you;  you can't use any of the other providers simply by enabling roaming - you need their Dongle/SIM instead of VF's.  If you are on PAYG, try PAYG on the strongest signal from the other providers (usually first on the list)

Roaming is for going abroad and using other VF compatible providers (and it costs a bomb)

 Hi Lonewolf10v

Hmm how annoying!

Have you tried flushing your DNS cache, I belive this is more likeley the cause of your issues.

from the command prompt  type ipconfig /flushdns

try this while the  modem is disconnected, then retry to connect.

Thanks

Re: K3565 - Connected, but no internet

I tried accessing the internet and it didn't work. I then disconnected and flushed the DNS cache as you suggested. It worked, I can now access the internet again :smileyhappy:

Thanks Ben.
