Mobile Broadband not working K3520-Z dongle Error 635

Hi there,

 

I have been having no end of problems since I signed up  for mobile broadband a few weeks ago and none of the advice/suggestions that I have received from your vodafone staff seem to have worked.  I was having problems getting a connection to 3G and when I did it was very shortlived. I could only connect to EDGE/GPRS at times and this was extremely slow.

 

The last piece of advice I received was to download the new software for the dongle K3520-Z which i did very very slowly on EDGE but now I am getting an Error 635 when I try to connect.  I have tried deleting and then adding the device again and this has not worked.  I have windows 2010 on my computer. 

 

Getting really frustrated and the next step may be to cancel my contract as I have not received proper service since I signed up.  Can anyone offer some advice at I am not sure what else can be done.

Maybe your postcode only has EDGE or GPRS.   A green single flash or green steady would confirm that.   Many parts of the country don't even have that (eg Norfolk or Wales)

 

Check the Voda coverage map.  You need nothing short of "Excellent" to get HSDPA, or "Very Good" at the very least to get UMTS

 

(Good luck cancelling after more than 7 days have elapsed.)

Hi mosimp,

 

It's disappointing to hear of the problems you are having here.

 

I have taken a look at your postcode that is on your eForum account and can see that your postcode has areas of outdoor only reception. Is this the postcode that you using the device at? If it isn't then please let us know the full postcode of the area and we will look into this.

 

Also, do you have any other 3G devices that use Vodafone that only pick up EDGE in that area?

thanks for getting back to me. Yes that is where I am using the device. I was promised a call back by one of your technicians on Wed this week which did not materialise by the way so that is not improving what I think about the customer support service.   my reception tends to default to edge/gprs which is really really slow.  However I am now getting one bar for 3G which is preferable.

 

I have a work BB but that tends to pick up EDGE and just a regular mobile which I assume also uses EDGE or GPRS. 

 

When I was sold the device I was told that the reception in my area was good but I have had days of no reception, slow reception with EDGE or GPRS and intermittent reception.

 

If the reception is only outdoors then this should have been made clear at the outset.

thanks i will also check the coverage map. Well I believe you have a 14 day cooling off period and considering that the service (broadband0 as well as the customer service (or lack thereof) is not what was promised I will definitely see what can be done if I can't find a solution.

Thanks for getting back to us and confirming that the postcode you use the device is the one in your profile. You are correct in that you get 14 days when purchased in store.
