Re: NOT HAPPY .. Vodafone's 2GB instead of 3GB on Mobile Broadband

I'd uninstall the VMC Lite software tout de suite if I knew it did so cleanly but having done it once, I am aware that it does not unistall cleanly thus making other provider's dongles software probably difficult to install.
I know that I have made a restore point back in December when i first installed the VMC stuff and could always restore to that point but I think then I would lose other virus updates and malware updates made since then.

I think that you mean that if the customer discovered he was now getting 2 litres of water for the price you'd been charging for 3 litres they would be rather miffed and of course wouldn't accept that hike and go elsewhere.
If only uninstalling some iffy software and installing others was as simple as that. Vodafone's VMC software IS iffy to say the least and was very laboured installing it on my Windows 7 and Vista laptops.

Agreed, just stating such a model would be favourable yet the excuse that customers only take 2 litres of stagnant water (when they have paid for 3) so we'll charge everyone more for less product, is one of the worst excuses I have ever heard.

Out of interest, what is an average download/upload rate, 5-15kbps?

Typical 3G+ (HSDPA) would be upload 300kbps and download 1000 to 3000 kbps in a speedtest site if you are within 1/4 mile of a 2100MHz mast

(1000kbps service speed is equivalent to 125 kByte/s file download)

5-15 kbps service would be very poor 2G, e.g. out in the middle of nowhere (Norfolk!), or a faulty service. It would allow slow email but no browsing of websites.  If that's what you have got, either you are nowhere near a 3G mast or there's a fault.

This looks like yet another attempt at ripping us off, At lest on payas you go if you go over your limit it stops Contract Customers get wolloped with big bills and we don't get told we have gone over. I have a O2 Dongle for work and i get a email and it stops just like pay as you go if i go over Vodafone and internet are not good house mates.

Do you realise that buying the £19.99 3GB dongle package from Argos is cheaper than topping up after Feb 1st!  Buy now while stocks last!

Actually since I was in Argos on Wednesday it's back up to £25 but Carphone Warehouse is still £19.96

Re: NOT HAPPY .. Vodafone's 2GB instead of 3GB on Mobile Broadband

Definitely leaving Vodafone now then. I was unhappy anyway as when I joined up my first dongle lasted 4 days, carphone warehouse replaced it, then it last 1 week, replaced it again, then it lasted a week again, this time carphone warehouse would not replace it. The whole time I was getting voltage errors on my USB slot, they had never heard of it, I was doing nothing wrong and nothing else in my laptop caused the error either.

So I told them to shove it and went to vodafone, bought another dongle (fool me), but also bought a USB extension lead hoping that might chew up some of the voltage and stop these errors. Sure enough, I've been on the same dongle for 3 months now, however, it still has multiple disconnects a day, some days maybe 5, some days 55. Somedays it does not recognise the dongle so I have to reboot.

I am currently job hunting so pretty much all my usage is job sites, e-mail, and some news reading, no youtube or anything, yet I have to top up every 3 or so as 3Gb is not enough for me. So if Vodafone are reducing the tariff to 2Gb, I won't be topping up again, I'll find alternate provider, whether it costs the same or not.

Perhaps if the service was ALWAYS on, I wouldn't mind, but when the quality is worse than an undeveloped country, and appears to be getting worse, then I can not understand nor appreciate their reasoning for this increase.

Also, with only 1 reply (albeit unhelpful or sympathetic) from a Vodafone rep on this thread, it truly does demonstrate how our custom is valued.
