Newly installed modem : RAS error code 635

I have just received and installed my modem :"Vodafone K3770 Modem"
Once installed and trying to connect, I get an error "RAS error code 635"
Asking me if my device is defaulted, I should delete and re add the device and make sure nothing else is using the device.
I am running Windows 7 Home, I have in the past had issues with the vodafone connecting software that caused me to just give up. I am now on the same sim card but in a different modem (Mecer) and the sim is working fine.
Please can someone five me a few troubleshooting tips as to how to get this thing to run.
Thanks

Hi Fudge321
Let me firstly welcome you to the Vodafone eForum. It’s always nice to have new people around here.
I’m confident I can assist in this matter.
When RAS error 635 is received, this normally indicates the incorrect APN (Access Point Name) is being used, so incorrectly set up in the VMC (Vodafone Mobile Connect) software.
Are you using the device with a contract or PAYG SIM?
The APN is different for these, with two variations of the APN available for PAYG too.
I’d also advise you use the latest version of VMC v10.1.108, especially as you are using Windows 7 as your OS (Operating System).
To change between Contract and PAYG
- Click on advanced on right hand side of screen
- Click on red circle in top left hand side & scroll and select options
- Scroll to Account type
- Change to contract or prepay
The APN’s for PAYG are different depending on what type of data tariff you have:
- The older un-expiring data allowance of 1Gb APN is pp.internet
- The newer 2GB 30 day expiring APN is pp.bundle.internet
In both cases both the user name and password is web
To check, or change the APN:
Go to Manage Devices > Right Click Device > Edit > select APN Tab.
Let me know how you get on.
