Solution

VMB 4.07.00.00 / K3770 / OSX 10.7.1 / Crash

This firmware works great on the work Mac Pro though however I'm having issues with on my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro.

The Menu Bar item loads ok, but the main software crashes just after loading the window...

Are there any logs that I can give you for tracing the issue?

Thanks

Luke

Hi,

Am having exactly the same problem after using the latest software to install the device.  When I launch the Mobile Broadband app the app window remains for a second or so and then the whole thing crashes, saying it has quit unexpectedly.

I have a Mid 2008 MacBook, running OSX Lion.

Any solutions?

Biggers

I am having problems with 4.07.00.00 on a MacBook Air (the latest model running 10.7.1). The computer locks up and the only solution is to reboot by holding the power button down. It seems to happen when VMB is frequently connecting and disconnecting, as on a train, rather than when the connection is stable. I can rarely get more than 15 minutes use before this happens. I run VMB on automatic connect. I'll try using it only on prompt and see what happens but there is clearly a software conflict. The Air never locks unless VMB is running.

Hi Biggers33 and c7jdg

Thank you for your posts, and I can certainly appreciate your frustration.

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the device and its software as this has worked on a number of occasions.

I have emailed our support expert to see if there is a known issue and will update accordingly.

Many Thanks

Hi guys,

I have had a response from our supporting expert and I have been asked if you could please perform the following in order for a solution to be identified and given.

  1. Launch VMB leaving the USB modem plugged in.
  2. Click on Help at the top menu bar and then press Shift and Command (together) and select Diagnostics.
  3. Diagnostics window will appear with the Bug Report button.
  4. Click on this button and it will create a zip file.
  5. Please send in Bug Report for further troubleshooting.

Once we have your responses I can feed this back.

Thank your for your assistance with this and your patience.

I just bought one of these dongles this week, only to discover it won't even install on lion.   Is there an update driver?

Hi srawilliams

At the moment there isn't any update drivers for this, but I am sure that this is being worked on so that it is compatible with Lion.

Martin

I realise this is of no use to anyone who has already purchased a mobile broadband dongle, but one option is to use a MiFi device instead, that way there's no software drivers needed and you just connect to the MiFi using WiFi.

Vodafone do now sell these. I used to use a MiFi dongle with my old iPad before I got a 3G iPad2.

Re: message from Dave on 5th October

Can you give me an email address to send the zip file to?
