iPhone facetime using R201 mobile wifi

I have a Vodafone R201 mobile wifi gadget and would like to be able to use FaceTime to speak to my wife. She is fine, using our home wifi. But for some reason it won't connect at my end, using the R201 for my wifi connection. It's a strong signal.
I wondered if anyone knows if there is some sort of block or if I need to change the settings on the R201 somehow?
Thanks for any help.

Were you getting an error from FaceTime, or simply nothing at all? I tried this with a different Mi-Fi device some time back, and it worked fine, so, unless there's something peculiar to the particular unit you are using, I'd be surprised if was anything to do with the device.
When you say a "strong signal," are you referring to the Wi-Fi signal, the backhaul to the cellular network, or both?

Hi StephenPollard.
Just as stated by Neil_Brown, I don’t know of any reason why Facetime wouldn’t work via Mobile Broadband, be that with a R201 or a sharing dock.
It would help greatly if you could advise the exact error you are getting when attempting to do this?
Also, have you attempted to connect to another WiFi source and been successful with the Facetime application?
