k3765 windows7 x64 RAS 718 error

Hello,

running win7 x64 on HP6530b notebook, I'm not able to connect to the VF nw. Modem is trying to connect for at least 1 min long, then returns a RAS 718 error code.
Earlier even my device was not recognised but after a firmware upgrade on an XP based machine (had to dig into some VF forums for this as well) it can be seen on the VMC (v10.x, newest from the VF page today). Checked if a BT modem present in the device manager, removed it.

Any idea...?

thanks,

k3765 windows7 x64 RAS 718 error

Hi brobi69

Interesting error code, I've only ever seen this once before

a RAS718 usually means a time-out waiting for a valid response from the PPP peer, This error indicates a PPP conversations was started, but was terminated because the remote server did not respond within an appropriate time.

This can be caused by the following:

  • Service outage : What post code are you in?
  • Changes to the mobile connect card drivers: what drivers are you using?
  • Degradation in wireless signal: does your modem pick up any signal bars?
  • General Driver issues: its rare but the driver could have been corrupted
  • TCP/IP issues: This error may also occur if your TCP/IP settings aren't enabled:

Start>settings>control Panel> Network Properties (or network and Dial up properties)
Right click on the connection corresponding to your wireless device and select Properties from the menu that appears
Select the Networking Tab in the list in the lower half of the window, make sure that Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is present and that the box next to it is checked.
Please let me know how this goes for you

Thanks

Re: k3765 windows7 x64 RAS 718 error

Hello,

I have the same RAS 718 error code on a K4505 USB modem. I've check the TCP/IP network settings as you said in the post, seems to be correct but I still receive the same error code.

I'm writing from Spain and using the latest version of the Mobile Connect software.

Any help?

Thanks in advance
