Re: vodafone gprs

Hi Jay_bond0161292,

GPRS is the mobile equivelent to dial-up internet if you remember back in the day. Most websites now are designed to be viewed on a fast broadband connection and as such you may find many wont load or if they do very slowly on the older GPRS stnadard connection.

Have you checked your postcode on the Coverage checker to see if this is the best connection you can recieve?

Hi there jay_bond0161292,

Thanks for your post.

I can see Nabs has given some great advice here though I feel I need to go into more detail for you concerning the local network.

I've checked your profile for a postcode and this is what I'm working with. If I'm checking the wrong area then please let me know the full postcode of the area you'd like me to check.

2G is served by either of two sites. One serves the Northern half of the postcode and the other the Southern. These are referenced 1668 and 513. I've checked both site's statistic for the last hour and they're managing perfectly well as far as I can see.

3G also has a North-South divide. Site 44479 serves the North and 44494 the South. Coverage should be good at your profile postcode so I've checked the site statistics for you and nothing looks out of place.

You say in your post that you can't access anything. I have a few questions:

  • Do you receive any error messages when you try and access any web pages?
  • Does the dongle work in an alternative machine?
  • What operating system is your PC/laptop running and what service pack?
  • What model is your dongle?
  • Has it ever worked?
  • Does it connect and allow you to access the internet in other locations?
  • Which version of Vodafone Mobile Broadband are you running?

If you could come back to me then we'll be able to look a little deeper :smileywink:

Cheers,

Lee
