Solution

PDP authentication failure in US

I see a number of posts with this issue but have not seen a solution.

Here is the problem: I have an iphone 5, I am based in the UK but currently travelling in the US. My mobile data was working fine until I purchased the World Traveller product and then the mobile data stopped working. The error message on the safari browser is PDP authentication failure.

I have called vodafone 4 times and tried the following fixes with no success:

- restarted
- reset network settings
- manually selected a different network and then switched back

- changed network
- turned off 4G and Euro Internet
- checked mobile data APN settings
- removed and reinserted SIM
- confirmed no roaming cap / call bar applies

This is very frustrating. Please can someone solve this.

Seb

Hi @sebmcd

Is this just happening in one location or everywhere you’re taking your phone?

If it’s in one location, it could be down to the network you’re connecting to.

If it’s everywhere, we’ll need to access your account to see what’s causing it. Live help will be able to check it for.

Thanks,

Simon

It is happening everywhere. I have called a number of times already and every time they take the block off my account but then I call later and it is back on there....

I think I know what the problem was but haven't been abroad again yet to test it. Basically I had maxed out my mobile data allowance for the month so even though I had removed the usage cap and bought world traveller pass there was no available data allowance to use. It was very frustrating that the reps I spoke to didn't point this out as in theory solving it would have been as easy as just buying a bunch more data and having it added to my account.
