ZTE K4201-Z COMPATIBILITY PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS 8.1

dritpetros
4: Newbie

I have the following problem with the new ZTE K4201-Z 3g USB STICK.

When i put the stick in the usb port of my laptop (TurboX - Manufacture Clevo - W670SHQ),

the laptop crashes and gives me the message "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE"

the laptop has Microsoft Windows 8.1 64 bit.

From Vodafone shop changed my stick 3 times, i spoke with the dealer-support of my laptop,

nobody can help me about this problem.

Notice that the stick works fine in a PC with Windows XP and Windows 7.

Please help me with this problem.

P.S. In my laptop the stick k4201 works fine, i tried from a friend.

Hi @dritpetros

For our tech team to look into this further, we'll need you to get in touch via Live help.

Thanks,

Rodney

You ask from me to pay, so to solve your problem?

I don't believe it!!!!

Hi @dritpetros

We've previously advised where you can find any new software updates.

Another option that hasn't been mentioned is the Vodafone Mi-Fi device. This will work without needing an update.

Thanks,

Kay

Thank you Kay

But this solution is again an extra cost for me

and is not a solution for my problem.

right, this is a specific issue,

According to my checks BSOD you mention has this errorhandler

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)
A driver has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time

have you tried the stick on another pc or even an android device with USB OTG?

There may be generic firmwares for the device, these will void your warranty though and I'm not even sure these will do the trick. as I have two ZTE Dongles here that have never worked properly for me on windows 7  or 8.1 (but work fine in windows 10 developer preview)
(I can't link to generic things as it's against the rules and theres a high risk of bricking your device.

but If I find any I can PM them)

If you can find the BSOD log maybe vodafone could send it to ZTE for analysis, as this is a common windows 8.1 issue.

How about vodafone's technical team should try to install ZTE K4201-Z on windows 8.1 Pro with all updates and see what happens and if anything goes bad they know what to do... or not.

Thanks for your comments.

The usb stick works fine at Windows 7 (i don't have)

I tried the usb stick at 4 Machines (2 laptop and and 2 pc's)

with Windows 8.1 and all 4 had the same error.

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

And i was forced to do recovery in all to work properly after.

All Windows 8.1 are genuine.

Thanks

They cannot change my ZTE k4201-z with another usb stick?

Lets say the 4203.
