Re: No Signal in BH23

If that message about upgrading for the olympics is true and we have to put up with limited to no signal for 'at least' 7 days without any notice or explanation then that is pretty unacceptable

Re: No Signal in BH23

Hi everyone

Radical I know, but I called Vodafone today. Customer service was very friendly and helpful. I was told there is a fault on a tower affecting BH23. Out had been logged and work had started, but could take up to 5 days to resolve. I was advised to switch to 2g only for the rest of the week...and it has worked.

Give it a try.

Re: No Signal in BH23

I see them working on the tower in Highcliffe, Christchurch today. Spoke to the guys, they said they were replacing fibre optics cable and Amps. There was a crane there lifting equipment up the mast. Could take up to 2 weeks! :-)

Re: No Signal in BH23

Hello everyone,

Thanks for your input here.

BH23 - There was a site listed on the Faults Board as being looked into. This has been resolved today - Site 5611 - BH23 though I've checked the statistics and can see that it's not resolved at all. I've therefore raised it with the network team to see if they can investigate further.

The issue was marked as resolved based on  the information we have been given.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: No Signal in BH23

Hi Noami23

Thank you for your post and I understand that this is causing you frustration.

Unfortunately it can take time to resolve a site issue, we often have to obtain permission to access the site, then we may need to obtain specialist equipment to reach the affected area before an investigation can begin, after this we may need to order or manufacture parts before we can fit them and test them.

I have sent you a Private Message to follow.

You can find your PM inbox here.

Many Thanks

Re: No Signal in BH23

Hi,

Can you tell me when this issue will be resolved? I have been unable to use my phone whilst at work in the christchurch area for well over two weeks now. I have contacted customer services two or three times now and all they say is the 'engineer is out fixing the mast now and will be fixed within the next 24 hours' well that was over two weeks ago. I find it extremely frustrating that I am paying for my phone and I can't use it! I was told that it would be rectified well over a week ago, and it is still as of today no better. I have been told that I can call customer services back once the problem has been resolved for a refund but that isn't the point. At this rate I will canceling my contract with Vodafone as I feel that you have defaulted on your terms as I have not been able to use the vodafone network for over 14 days now.

Thanks

Re: No Signal in BH23

Hi Vicky86,

The Faults Board indicates the original issue listed on this thread was resolved, so we'll be happy to take a look and see what's affecting you.

Can you confirm the postcode you have difficulties at for me? I can't go off the postcode in your profile as you say this is an issue at work, not at home, so we need to see which of the sites across Christchurch would be covering that area.

Also, can you confirm if you have the issue with both 2G and 3G signal in the area? Some of the sites only provide one or the other type of signal, so this can also help to narrow it down, as well as to indicate if you'll be able to use 2G signal until this is resolved for you.

Finally, you say you've lost the signal at work, but does this mean that you can get signal in other locations?

Please keep in mind that as a mobile phone, the loss of available signal at one specific location does not mean that we are not providing the contracted service - you are still able to connect at other locations. As stated in the terms and conditions, the nature of mobile technology means that we cannot guarantee a fault-free service, but we are happy to make sure that this has been picked up and is being looked into for you.

Dave

Re: No Signal in BH23

Hi,

Can you tell me when this issue will be resolved?  I have read various threads and it says it's been fixed, then there's another problem etc etc.

I have been unable to use my phone consistently whilst at work in the Christchurch area for well over two weeks now.

There are 4 others of us who have been using Vodafone quite happily for a while, but over the past month or so the data and occasionally voice reception is poor to nothing at all.  This is inside, sat at my desk where I've sat for the past months with perfect signal, there is now poor at best.  Stood outside in sight of the Vodafone mast by Christchurch rail station, the signal is poor.  My phone registers 'g' to 'h+'.  Whilst I accept that Vodafone are providing 2g, is that really acceptable??  Has anyone at Vodafone tried to use one of the fancy smartphones they sell on 2g???  Pretty pointless.

Before joining Vodafone I read your website where it told me that you could cope with the various masts going down by boosting and diverting to other masts, perhaps this could be done.  I am very disappointed.

Can anyone say for sure when the problems will be fixed.

p.s. My 2g Blackberry for work is on Vodafone, and 2g isn't any better before anyone asks!

Signal at my home postcode at BH7 is much better, I usually get 'h+'

Can anyone provide a straight answer?

Many thanks

Re: No Signal in BH23

I still have issues in the BH23 area, however at home in the BH25 area it is now fine *touch wood* as i dont seem to be having any problems. In the BH23 area still the only thing i can do is send and receive text messages everything else such as the internet, BBM, and making and receiving phone calls do not work. I've tried switching to 2G from 3G but this does not make any difference. I was told by Vodafone that it has something to do with the Olympics?!? Do you have any updates on this issue? Many Thanks

Re: No Signal in BH23

Hi vicky86,

Thanks for your post here.

I have checked the original issue in the BH23 area with site 61034 and can confirm that this has been resolved with the site now taking traffic without any issues.

However, if you are still having issues in this area, please can you confirm the exact postcode so we can check which site you are connecting to and see where the issue lies.

James

Re: No Signal in BH23

Just to advise that the problem is far from sorted, I work in the BH23 1 postcode, still all 4 people I work with are still having problems with our phones (2 iphones, a galaxy s2 and a htc desire), data/internet is patchy at best, and nothing at it's worst, this is outside, not inside.  My work Blackberry is a 2G phone, I have given up carrying this now, as data transmission is nothing at all, or so patchy that it's not worth bothering with, my work are aware as it's a corporate contract with you.

I can see the mast from my office, so all phones have line of sight to the mast itself.

Clearly there has been an ongoing problem, which despite being told several times has been sorted, hasn't.  This happened yesterday (9th) and into today.

If this mast is such a problem, can't the calls and data be provided by another mast closeby?  Who can escalate this ongoing complaint of poor network provision, as it's bounced around on this forum for sometime, someone saying it's fixed, but it's not, then fixed, but not.

I am so disappointed with the service on Vodafone so far, having read your website sounded very good, improving 3g signals, boosting 2G!??

Can someone let me know.

Thanks

Re: No Signal in BH23

Hi there citibadger,

Many thanks for your post regarding the signal in the BH23 area.

I've just checked the site statistics for 61034 and I can't see any traffic passing through in this last hour.

I've just asked the networks team to double check the cases attached due to the information I can see.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: No Signal in BH23

So what is the outcome of this? Will anything be sorted? I've never corresponded via forums before, I just want my phone to work properly. Will someone/anyone be able to give me an answer as to why it's not worked, and when it will be working again fully. Clearly the situation isn't getting solved. I'm prepared to wait another week, if not I will make a formal complaint to Vodafone in the hope of sorting this. The service is intermittent, but surely must be solvable?
