Thank you all for posting. I can confirm that I have flagged this thread up to our network teams for their consideration. There is also a 3G mast planned for the Town Centre. As I mentioned previously, we're unable to say when this will go live, however you'll be able to check on updates via our Network Upgrades page.

Hi George,

Is there anything planned for the Burntwood area  WS7 ?  (and even Sutton Coldfield B75?) Signal isn't the greatest around both, have to use a sure signal at home to get any kind of signal (just 2G not even EDGE) and work is the same - very weak signals.

Thanks for posting. I've checked your postcode and can confirm that the 3G signal is quite patchy around there. The good news is that there is a 3G mast planned at a college about a quarter of a mile from you. Once this goes live, then I'd expect the signal to improve.

I don't have a timescale for when this will be completed, however you'll be able to check on any progress via our Network Upgrades page.

Hopefully they get a move on. The signal around the town centre is ridiculous and is unacceptable for a network/company of such size.

It's now been nearly two months since I posted the last post in this thread.

Please could you confirm whether there are any new updates on the proposed 3G mast in the city centre. The network upgrades link that was posted by a VF moderator contains no new activity yet.

Also, whilst searching Google on this topic I came accross a Facebook fan page here about the Lichfield network coverage.

The 'future coverage' version of the coverage map suggests it's not happening anytime soon.

Quite how Vodafone think OUTDOORS in the city centre is fine with NOT EVEN 2G signal is quite ridiculous. 

The fact there is a Vodafone store in the city centre is even more ridiculous.

The funny thing is that the VF store has a small mast behind it. It provides just enough signal for inside the store and just around it, say 100metres up or down the precinct then bang, gone.

Lichfield is a well known city and it's a good size. My colleagues/friends are on all the other networks and they have no signal problems whatsoever - they even get full signal inside the buildings! Why can't VF follow suit? What's stopping them?

The cheek of it!! It needs sorting ASAP!!

Thanks for your post here. I’m sorry to hear that you are still having problems with signal in your area. I appreciate how frustrating this is.

As George has mentioned above, I’m afraid we can’t give timescales as to when you should expect the site to be ready. There simply too many factors that affect the how long it will take. I understand how eager you are for this to become operational though, so make sure you keep an eye on the link that George has provided.

Ok another 6 months has gone by and still we've seen no progress with the poor reception in Lichfield. I've check the link still nothing planned. What's going on Vodafone?

About a month ago I checked the coverage map and to my delight there was planned 2G coverage in town.  

The areas in light blue were dark blue when selecting 'future coverage'.  Unfortunately, looking today, this no longer seems to be the case.

I have no hope of any coverage improvements in the near future, and when my contract ends in 3 weeks time I will be changing to another operator.  Even though I am not in Lichfield that often, it is a pain.  I find it ridiculous that there is no 2G or 3G coverage in a city centre, even when outdoors.

Well no real improvements have been noticable in either Lichfield or Burntwood from what I have seen, my suresignal has gone down and i'm barely even getting a 2G signal let alone a 3G signal . When are we going to get a decent signal in these parts?

Thanks for all of your posts here. As previously mentioned there is a planned 3G site at very close to the WS7 2AX postcode. Again, we cannot give timescales as to when this will become active.

If you are quite a way from this postcode please provide your full postcode and we’ll check your area for you for planned improvements but please bear in mind that we are unable to give timescales as to when new sites will become active.

Most of the people here are requesting information on a Lichfield City Centre mast. Some information on this would be greatfully received.

Like others here my contract ends soon and I will be moving to another network (which all work fine in Lichfield) if nothing is done about this.

T-mobile, Orange & O2 customers all get signal in our town, even inside buildings. I know this becuase I have seen friends phones whilst talking about this issue. Can you explain why Vodafone doesn't? A more informative reply wouldn't go a miss rather than the typical customer service crap.

Thanks for your post. Unfortunately there are still no further updates on the network upgrades in Lichfield. I can appreciate that the thread has been running a while now, however we haven't been provided with any additional information at this time.

Was shopping in Lichfield on Saturday (13th October 2012) and still the same problem, no signal.

It's been two years since this thread was first set up and nothing has changed in Lichfield. It's a nightmare and very frustrating especially when I see loads of other people wandering around chatting on their phones.

My wife is now on Orange (used to be on Vodafone) and she has no problem. When we go to Lichfield we now have to tell family to ring or text my wife and not me. Ridiculous really.

I went into the Lichfield Vodafone shop and asked about this problem and was told by the manager that they hadn't been able to erect a new mast for Vodafone due to public protest. The manager said they were now hoping something could be put in place for Vodafone to share a current mast with another network, though she wasn't hopeful.

So, in theory, the Lichfield problem may never be fixed!
