Re: Berkhamsted - HP4 - Town Centre - possibly 8220

All I can suggest is that everyone uses every possible means of social networking, phoning, writing - whatever suits - to let the wider community know how shocking Vodafone have been at fixing this issue.

Re: Berkhamsted - HP4 - Town Centre - possibly 8220

If only we had a local store. We could organise a picket, then the man from the Gazette would appear and then before you know it we'd be on the ten o'clock news.

Perhaps a bus to Newbury would be an alternative?

I've been IM'ing and spoken to CS, but nowt. I think someone has cut the wrong cable.

And yet again, the forum administrators are silent.

I have sent a mail to the office of Stefan Langkamp, Customer Operations Director in the hope that some weight can be applied to resolving this sorry state of affairs. :smileymad:

Re: Berkhamsted - HP4 - Town Centre - possibly 8220

Hello guys,

Thanks to you all for your posts.

So far I have 3 clear postcodes on this thread and a number of you have your postcodes in your profiles.

As you're probably all aware by now, we have a known issue at site 8220 which is listed here.

I'll list each postcode and your serving site for clarity. If you've not provided your postcode in this thread then I will list those that have it included in their profile by username::

HP4 3DR - Served by site 8220

HP4 1DW - Served by site 8220

HP4 2DL - Served by site 8220

tudorr - Served by site 8220

Simonheywood - Served by site 8220

PeterCThomas - Served by site 8220

bells - The postcode in your profile shows you to be in Wilstone in a different area altogether so I'm not sure you'll be served by this site unless you're working or visiting in the area.

NickyWoolmer and Barkingmadwuff– There is no postcode in your profiles therefore I'm unable to identify your serving site, though I expect it to be the same as the above.

I'm afraid we cannot give any further detail than is already provided in the linked thread but you can subscribe to the thread for an update via email when there are any. Please rest assured that we are working to have the mast in an operational condition as soon as possible.

Regards,

Lee

Re: Berkhamsted - HP4 - Town Centre - possibly 8220

Lee, I've tried to update my profile but it is so slooooow tonight.

I am served by 8220 (Castle Hill Close) - my post code is HP4 3JQ. But it is not just my address. I'd like a signal in Berko! I am picking up a signal at the postcode but it is weak. I think it is coming from 5944 near the Hospice of St Francis. I couldn't find another VF mast in the Berko area.

Perhaps you could boost (temporarily) other cells in the area to compensate for 8220 being down?

The link you have provided tells us nothing. Over 1 week has past and we stll know nothing about the progress.

I work in the service sector and if I treated my customers with this much information when things are wrong, I wouldn't have a job because I wouldn't have any customers.

Can you escalate the frustrations to the top of VF. I'm sure you would be providing more info, if you had it.

Regards

Re: Berkhamsted - HP4 - Town Centre - possibly 8220

FYI. my work (who uses the vodafone business network) and gets a better level of service due to this(?!) has emailed all staff saying that this problem is connected to the BT problems in the area, and apparently a lot of BT lines are now down in the town (including my own)...

BT may be red herring. Couldn't find anything for phone or broadband on the BT service status page

Since it is national fix someone's problem week, and I had a few moments, I visited 8220

http://youtu.be/ucM1R7gs8_o

http://youtu.be/yOZjhFaiNZ8

http://youtu.be/c_EaDYZIwjQ

From the videos it may not be VFs problem. Some plonker may have been clumsy with their equipment.

It doesn't look like anyone has been to the site because there are lots of undisturbed leaves around the gate. (sorry, scrub this, there is a gap in the leaves - so someone may have visited)

VF is this information useful?

Regards

Re: Berkhamsted - HP4 - Town Centre - possibly 8220

Just surfing the board......

This fault http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Network/Want-to-report-a-faulty-mast/td-p/1064175 was reported on the 5th and fixed on the 6th. Now that is what I call service.

Now, back to our problem - what is the problem and when will it be fixed? You MUST know what the problem is! Is it BT, the construction work, other?

Regards

Re: Berkhamsted - HP4 - Town Centre - possibly 8220

The access for the VF engineer is at the end of the station car park, underneath the double storey car parking. The building work is occuring on a piece of land that was abandoned at the end of Castle Hill Close and borders the mast. Access seems to be limited due to crash barrier and height of the dirst floor deck.

I walked around and spoke to the neighbours. The construction started around 1 month ago. Prior to that it was overgrown as you can see from google street view.

Looks like the builder is WE Black (from the planning portal).

VODAFONE, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO SORT THIS OUT? MY WIFE AND I HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE LAST 8 DAYS TO BE TOLD IT WILL BE SORTED IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. STOP ############ US AND GIVE US SOME REAL INFORMATION. CRAP SERVICE. CRAP EXCUSES. WE'RE OFF TO O2, ALL 4 PHONES IN THE HOUSE. YOU CAN'T TREAT CUSTOMERS THIS BADLY WITHOUT EXPECTING A BACKLASH.

Re: No service in Berkhamsted since Friday 30th March

I called this morning and still no idea when the issue will be fixed. They did take £20 off my next bill. £10 for phone and £10 for iPad so worth the call. HP4 1FE

I'd rather have the service.

Of course I would as well but I have no control over that. In the mean time a refund helps. Or no refund for no service is silly, it's just a call.

Yes, I'd like a restored service.

VF, will you surprise us tomorrow? Perhaps you can provide a meaningful /real status report in preference to just pointing us to a posting that tells us nothing and has no been updated since the original post was created.

Erm, yes I do work in Berkhamsted, I spend almost my entire time in Berkhamsted, so really, I think the issue is why youre questioning its an issue. Surely the fact Ive noticed the lack of signal is enough to warrant my posting on the board.

I've written an e-mail, called up, I dont care about the fact youve given me my months bill back. I want to cancel my contract, because this, quite frankly, is outrageous.

I want a clear date of when the issue will be rectified.

p.s perhaps not so appropriate to disclose other peoples' personal information without prior consent? On principle.

Re: Berkhamsted - HP4 - Town Centre - possibly 8220

I've had a call from Margaret @ VF who has provided a little more info,

  • Over 100 people have complained
  • The fault was reported 30 March
  • An RBS cable needs to be replaced
  • It is expected to take another week to 10 days to fix (but could be sooner or later)
  • It is being dealt with as a high priority incident

I've no idea what an RBS cable is, but it isn't something that the engineer would carry on his van, because it would have been fixed my now.

I'm guessing the construction work / pile driiving at the side of the mast has severed / damaged the cable. This ties up with an earlier post about cable problems.

Regards
