Solution

Two VLANs sharing Vodafone router

Hi, I am trying to setup a second VLAN on my NetGear GS724T smart switch. On my first attempt I created a new VLAN number 100 and moved ports 23 and 24 out of default VLAN (VLAN 1) and into VLAN100, configured as untagged. All seemed ok at this point, however I then assigned the port the Vodafone router was connected on to both VLAN1 and VLAN100 as untagged in both VLANs. At this point I had serious problems! I couldn’t connect to any devices any more including the router or the smart switch and in fact had to factory reset the switch to regain access. For info, DHCP is handled by the router.

Any help on where I went wrong here would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
