Re: Issues in Reading today?

Hello ClaireBee!

Thanks so much for the information. You dont by any chance have more info on that issue do you? I am suprised you are not a mod on here :smileywink: giving over all the useful info! good work.

I am sure the mods do know something, not completely sure why they wont just tell us. Oh well. If you hear anything else on it, dont be shy to share.

Re: Issues in Reading today?

Hi oxymoron,
No I'm afraid I don't have much info to share, took me an age to get any seems out of them on the landline and to add insult to injury I was cut off once but kept trying!the lady I finally spoke to just said that there was an issue they were trying to fix.when I pressed for a time scale she was very vague and I'm afraid to say she didn't seem particularly interested!let's hope they let us know soon.

Re: Issues in Reading today?

Thanks again ClaireBee,

Its a pity that Matt does not know anything about this outage, if its a known issue and customer services know about it, surely the "Tech Team" should know this stuff, especially if they are doing support for Network issues.

I think I am going to have to give them a call sometime soon.

Re: Issues in Reading today?

JD, you sir are the man!

There we go!

Finally after this being announced to Vodafone staff before 9 this morning, the general public is now provided with THIS

This would have been useful at 10:32 this morning when the first mod replied.

Thanks JD for the thread, I look forward to the updates.

Re: Issues in Reading today?

Hmmm, well having been without a signal all day I think they could have come up with something slightly more informative than that message....Not impressed.

Re: Issues in Reading today?

Unfortunately the poorly worded notice has been replaced with a slightly better one.

The above link will no longer work, however the new one, update at 14:01, can be found

here

Atleast we now know that there is actually something going on in Reading.

Please keep the updates on the same post JD, I dont want to keep putting a new link up for anyone looking. :smileywink:

Re: Issues in Reading today?

Hi guys,

As a temporary measure please switch your phones over to 3G and they will be back up and running.

As the situation changes, updates will be posted on the faults board.

Many thanks,

Phil

Some people in the Reading are are having network problems. We are aware of this and our engineers are woking on it. We will update this page if we have anymore information.

Re: Issues in Reading today?

3G does not work for me....We deserve a Sure Signal box free of charge......My business contacts are unable to call me. It is extremely frustrating....and costly for me and many more customers out there. Get your act together or we will leave Vodafone in droves.....with no return.

Re: Issues in Reading today?

I must say I find it very annoying that the tech team and mods all disappear the minute there is a real problem....Still I'm sure we'll all be compensated so the inconvenience....PAUSE for hollow laughter

Re: Issues in Reading today?

Hi Shp,

To switch to 3G on your phone would vary depending on the phone that your using.

I'd recommend taking a look at our device support page, search by the manufacturer and then the model number.  The following page that populates will direct you to that phones specific support page.  Click on 'network' and it will give you the option for 'How do I set my phone to use only 3G?'.

Many thanks,

Phil

Re: Issues in Reading today?

I don't have 3G on my phone either (still have an old Nokia 3109c) :-(

Guess it's time to get a smart phone and to make sure it's from a different service provider!

Re: Issues in Reading today?

I have an HTC Desire.....it has 3G but there is no signal in my house....I have just come back from my physiotherapist, in Caversham, and managed to get a poor 3G signal outside, enough to make a phone call....but nothing in my house despite Vodafone's coverage map claims....zero signal.....this certainly strengthens my case for a free Sure Signal box

What is going on with the network in Reading?

Posted from Facebook
When will i be able to use my phone again???? I've not been able to make or receive calls all day! i have tried to send an email and got no response and there is nothing on any of your pages to explain what is happening. This is absolutely disgraceful and appalling customer service and this is not the first time this has happened, where there is no explanation or apology when the network eventually starts working. If cannot use my phone soon or at least get an explanation, first thing tomorrow i will be changing networks and encouraging my vodafone friends to do the same, not that they will need much persuading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
