Cashback through QuidCo and Employee Advantage Discount

Sorry about bringing this subject up again.

I have just purchased my S3 through QuidCo and plan to apply my Employee Advantage Discount to my plan.

I found this thread and assumed the tech guys knew what they were talking about so decided to keep the contract.

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III/changing-pre-order/td-p/1128401

However, when I spoke with someone in customer services they were under the impression that you wouldn't be able to claim the cashback as well as the Employee Advantage Discount.

For my peace of mind, having just commited to an expensive 24 month contract, can you please confirm that I can in fact do this?

The cash back is a straight cashback deal - no line rental discount.

Thanks

Hello tr54yrs

You would be unable to apply for the 20% employee advantage discount through Quidco, the contract has to be taken out directly through Vodafone.

Please see and click Question 4 on the following link.

Thanks for the reply.

The phone wasn't purchased through QuidCo, the phone was purchased from the Vodafone website.

Please see the topic I linked to in the OP.

Quidco are not party to the transaction in any way other than receiving a marketing commission that they will pay back to you. You have dealt directly with Vodafone and thus will be eligibile for the discount if you meet all of the normal criteria.

Quidco is merely an affiliate that is marketing Vodafone to it members along with lots of other retailers

Re: Cashbook through QuidCo and Employee Advantage Discount

Hi tr54vrs,

Just to confirm, you have to deal directly with us to get the discount, using a marketing site like quidco will not qualify you for the discount as we pay them a commission for bringing customers to us - they then pay you your cashback out of that commission.

If we were then to add the discount on top of this we would effectively be paying you to be our customer :smileywink:

I've amended the other post you refer to earlier in this thread and this too shows the correct information now.

Thanks

Paul

Re: Cashbook through QuidCo and Employee Advantage Discount

I purchased my phone directly from the Vodafone website.  Just because I accessed that website from a link on the QuidCo website doesn't change that fact.

How can you go into a thread and edit posts of two of your 'expert' colleagues saying that this was well within the rules?

The people who sought and accepted their advice will now be tied into 24 month contracts paying substantially more than they were lead to believe.

Terrible terrible stuff

Re: Cashbook through QuidCo and Employee Advantage Discount

I find this very strange and frankly I don;t believe it. Quidco is a website based on affiliate marketing. They will not have a direct relationship with Vodafone and probably link to your site via an affiliate network called Affilliate Window. Whether Vodafone pay a commission to Quidco via AW should no more affect the customer's rights than if they came to you via a poster or TV advert.

A lot of websites have advertising links to Vodafone and don't share their commission with their user.

The customer has dealt directly with Vodafone from end to end and how the Vodafone marketing department chooses to acquire its customers cannot have any impact on their eligibility for a discount as an employee of a certain type of employer.

Re: Cashbook through QuidCo and Employee Advantage Discount

Was this query resolved. I'm looking to purchase through the voda website, but with Quidco cash back. Would this contract still qualify for the employee discount scheme or not.

it's all done through Vodafone.

Re: Cashbook through QuidCo and Employee Advantage Discount

Hi davidsmithuk201,

this question was indeed resolved - you're not able to claim cashback and use your employee advantage discount at the same time - this is taken from the FAQs regarding employee discounts;

This deal is only available to tariffs bought through the Vodafone Online Shop, Vodafone telesales and Vodafone shops - it's not available through Carphone Warehouse, Tesco, Quidco or Phones 4 U

Whilst I agree that you are indeed buying from our website when you link through Quidco, our system knows this and will flag your account accordingly - this has a twofold effect - it allows us to tell Quidco you've connected so that they pay out, it also tells us that you didn't obtain your line directly through ourselves which blocks your discount.

Paul
