Failed credit check

Hello,

Im wondering if anyone can offer advice on this wee matter of mine.

Applied for a HTC sensation on a pre-order.

First order

First order rejected as My smille coop bank account wasnt deemed to be a Uk bank account.

2nd attempt.

Tried again this time bank was accepted but failed credit check this time.

I owe money on Mortgage but on experian credit check, its classed as low and have a 999 score.

I earn above average wages, have no other ongoing debt.

I'm wondering why I would fail a credit check when I have excellent credit rating?

I rung up an 0844 number and after being on hold for an expensive amount of time I spoke to someone in India possibly? and after that I got to speak to someone in the UK as the first line person couldnt help me.

so can anyone else confirm that :'credit.liason@gb.vodafone.co.uk' is the right email address to send a failed credit query to?

Also what is the lead time?

if this was in the company I work for a reply of this importance would be sent the same day.

I also have Vodafone shares ( quite a lot of them ) but I'm beginning to wonder why.:mansad:

Regards

Re: Failed credit check

Hi chubbybrown,

Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here :smileyhappy:.

I'm sorry to hear that your order was rejected on the basis of the credit check. If you're certain that there shouldn't be a problem with your credit history, then it could just be something simple like an address or name being logged incorrectly somewhere. Unfortunately, our team isn't able to directly investigate this type of issue, however if you email the address you've included in your post, then they'll be in touch with you as soon as they can.

Spoiler

Yep Turns out Vodafone doesnt accept Amex even though there is the choice there :smileymad:

It even shows you how to put your Amex details differently in the boxes.

anyway!

Got a nice appology regarding mistake and are going to ask online sales if they can reraise the original order.

I was given an account number to quote;probably to avoid another credit check?

Ordering online sometimes just isnt as simple as its supposed to be.

Thanks for help.

Query Solved I think.

Re: Failed credit check

Looks like you've not met their eligibility criteria. Doesn't really matter what your score on Experian is, as Vodafone will have their own, confidential scoring method, and unfortunately you have not met their criteria.

A 999 score on Experian is usually a default score as they don't have enough information about you to determine a real score. Never pay for a score with them as it's meaningless.

Hi Simax,

thansk for your reply.

Whats happened is Vodafone will only do one credit check as if they do multiples it affects your credit score, they gave me an account number ( the credit bit ) to confirm I can have a phone with them its just its impossible to do the way I want to buy it.

With regard to experian I disagree, 999 is a score 'they say' 71% of the population aspire to.

I was surprised by it though and it can even tell how much of your cc balance is used at the time of the report.

The criteria was that smile internet bank part of the coop is not deemed as a uk bank (1st problem but not 2nd time) using an amex card to pay for items was 2nd problem they says they dont take amex but let you go through it all even telling you how to put your security number in as its on the front of the card, they tell you all that etc!

3rd problem rung up told to reorder and then refused again.

sent emails to above email and to reply@vodafone and havent heard owt since.

Im expected to phone an 0844 number again to chase it up,dont they want business, obviously not.

I'll give it a week.

Maybe its not meant to be with Vodafone

Forgot to say Vodafone use Experian for credit checks, according to them its the system kicking it not them, who runs who here?

Re: Failed credit check

Experian score up to 1000. It's amazing how many people on the Internet have a score of "999".

Re: Failed credit check

Valid point.

but not that valid as Im sure 1 point isnt going to fail a credit check.

The problem is I have passed one but as they cancelled my order by mistake now I cant reapply as the 'system' kicks it.

Any relevant suggestions welcome, namely from The forum owners.

Re: Failed credit check

Hi there chubbybrown,

Many thanks for your continued updates.

As George has already said, there is little the eForum Team can do to override the decision that has been made after the credit check has been completed.

I can confirm that every time one applies for credit one's credit score can be affected. It might be worth sitting tight for a month then re-applying.

Cheers,

Lee

chubbybrown,

Like I said the Experian "score" they sell is meaningless.

Re: Failed credit check

Hi chubbybrown,

I've had a word with one of our sales gurus and we may be able to help after all!

It would appear that from the information you have provided, if you passed the initial credit check, then an account will have been set up but would remain in a 'pending' status.

If we can locate the account we should be able to process the order for you.

With this in mind, I've sent an email to your registered eForum address. If you could hit reply, fill out the requested details and reply, we'll be able to take a look at what's going on.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: Failed credit check

As with many other people on this forum I am having the same issue and need some urgent help, as I am only in the UK between 19-21 of May to pick up my new phone.

I have also emailed credit.liaison with the following...

With reference to Order number: o235820598

As recommended by your sales team I have just reordered a phone contract with you for a HTC sensation. Recently I was rejected when you checked my credit rating with Experian. However I believe there was an error last time - I have been in contact with the credit checkers at Experian (again as recommended by your colleges) and I have a rating of 997 out of 999 - near perfect. The only issue I can see is that Experian shows me as a non registered voter, this is an error within their system as I have a military address - I have confirmed with the borough council of Kings Lynn and Norfolk that I am registered, my elector number is WE1-1066.

For completeness here is my previous order number that was rejected:

o234534908#6343253]

Requested action: Both orders have now been rejected. Please can you reopen and sent one of them to my address ASAP - as I am in the military and serving abroad - I will only be in the UK to pick up my new phone on the 19,20 and 21st May - which should have been ok if the original orders were accepted.

Thanks
Please get back to me asap, so that I know the issue has been sorted

So Spoke to a very Plucky Operator ( if I had a job for her she could have one ) from Online sales, who had left a message for me,her name started with a 'D',she knew her stuff thats for sure,a minute on the phone with her sorted out such a shambles.
Her Boss should have reinstigated the order and didnt, put on hold for a minute, said phone now will go through but out of stock for now.
I will get an email and should get phone 1/2 days after that.
Will inform all and accept as a solution when it happens.

Thanks to all posters and also Vodafone staff.
