No / Very Poor Signal In My House

Right, I joined Vodafone on Friday 20th May, (last Friday), and just got my number ported over, all is fine, except I seem to be having some signal issues in my house. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes I have 1 or 0 bars, and more often than not I have No Service at all. My phone is HTC Sensation, and it's fine when I'm out of the house and in general.

As a new customer I'm wondering what can be done to sort this out?

Many thanks.

Re: No / Very Poor Signal In My House

Hey Tim7,

Welcome to Vodafone :smileyvery-happy:

Many thanks for your post. I've checked on your profile postcode for coverage and 2G is absolutely fine. 3G, however, looks a little more indefinite.

There's a tiny little area if 'in-car' 3G coverage, which means it's not expected to be obtainable indoors. The little patch covers about half of the street from the middle, stretching towards Sun Lane.

The serving site for your profile postcode is referenced 80520 and is right over to the North west of your postcode on Dover Road as you pass into Northfleet. You're right on the edge of it's reach so the fact you sometimes see signal and sometimes don't indicates to me that you are being subjected to a 3G phenomenon called 'cell breathing'.

This means that during busier times, the reach of the site reduces to cater for those closer to it's centre. The good news is that the site is 3G only and if you switch your handset to 2G when you're at home, you'll see a massive increase in signal.

The 2G site for the same postcode is referenced 53561 and is close by the other site near to the leisure centre.

To switch to 2G on your handset, please follow the below instructions:

Tap the Menu key
Tap Settings
Tap Wireless and networks
Scroll down to and tap Mobile networks
Tap Network Mode
Tap GSM only

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: No / Very Poor Signal In My House

Lee, Thanks for the reply, however would I have to do this every time I leave / come back to my house if I still want to get 3G when I'm out and about?
