PROBLEMS WITH UNLOCKING VODAFONE 340 HANDSET

Hi...Can someone please assist me regarding the following:

I have paid Vodafone £20.00 to unlock my Vodafone 340 mobile phone, which I had purchased 01 Jan 2011. I received an e-mail with the NUC and instructions on how to unlock the handset. The e-mail advised me once I had completed the procedure my handset would be unlocked. I followed the instructions exactly as provided, and received the response 'SIM unlocked’.

Assuming my mobile was unlocked I put in another carrier’s SIM, which had credit, and immediately received the response 'no service’. I tried making a call, and was advised 'unable to connect'. I then tried another SIM, same response. I tried a 3rd SIM, again same response. All the 3 SIMs have credit, and are already used in unlocked mobile phones. 

I have contacted Vodafone, and they have advised me that they have provided me with the correct NUC. 

Can anyone offer any suggestions, or advice, as to why I am having problems getting my Vodafone handset unblocked?

Somehow, it seems Vodafone has unlocked my SIM, but not my mobile. Is it possible to have a SIM unlocked, but not the mobile?

Hi, sounds as if you will need to get back to Customer Care and they should be able to put in a request for another NUC if the one they have provided has not worked.. The NUC is specifically to get the phone unlocked, has nothing at all to do with the SIM..

Hi...Thanks for your reply.

 

What I neglected to put in my original post was that when I paid the £20.00 to have my mobile unlocked, I was asked for my SIM card number, and this is what has led me to believe I have not been given the correct details to unlock my phone. Does this sound correct?

 

As I am no longer in the UK, I have had to contact Customer Service via e-mail, (I have tried calling, but after many minutes of waiting and watching my money disappear, I have had to hang up), and, yet again, have been advised they have sent me the correct NUC. However, my mobile is still locked.

Hi, when you request an NUC, you would have had to provide the IMEI (handset identity number) of the phone, which can be retrieved by dialling *#06#, so i dont know why you would have been asked for your SIM number.. If Customer Care dont have the correct IMEI then it is possible they have requested wrong NUC..

Am afraid that you will need to get back in touch with them and double check they have the correct info, but hopefully one of the mods on here will be able to look into this and get the issue resolved for you..

Hi..Many thanks for your advice.

 

I have contacted Customer Service, yet again, and have also resent my IMEI, which I gave them when I requested the mobile be unlocked..

 

I cannot understand why I was asked for my SIM card number, but did not question when asked as I thought this was what was also required to unlock my phone.
