5230 rubbish phone

Well nearing the end of my contract, can't wait this phone has been utter rubbish from day one, and this is the 3rd replacement, voice dialing is crap unless you have a computer generated voice !!!, it resets it's self, when ever it feels like it , home screen changes, some times twice a day, unaided, and then might be fine for weeks, I don't have the spare cash to replace the phone before the contract ends. I thought,I might change to a different network, but coverage is not so good here with the others, so I 'll just sit it out and wait :smileysad:

Re: 5230 rubbish phone

If you have less than 6 months remaining some independant retailers (Phones4U) will buy you out when you switch netweork through them,

You will need a PAC, phone 191 and ask, they have to give it to you, when you use this your number will port to the new provider and voda will close your acount

Re: 5230 rubbish phone

I completely agree.  Its the worst phone i've ever owned and when I wrote to vodafone no less than FIVE times to ask for some help after being a customer for almost 10 years, i didn't even get a reply.  This phone should have been recalled.  I know of 5 people who have all had the same problems with it.  I'm just waiting out my contract too and will be going with a different company.  I've been a customer for a long time, all my bills have been paid on time and i expected better service.

Whilst I'm grateful I got a reply via the forum, having thought about your offer, i'm even move disappointed.  Whilst you made an offer of an early upgrade to a Galaxy S II, you basically offered to tie me in for another 18 months (on top of the 12 remaining) and charge me £31 per month for the privilage, thats £10 more than i pay now.  So, i get a phone that works (but would be £20 per month with O2) in exchange for a total of £1000+.   How is that helping ME?  A contract is a two way street, you failed to provide me with a fully functional handset and have now failed 6 times to do anything satisfactory about it.  In conclusion, it seems i would get more satifaction cutting up my sim, waiting out my contract and then throwing this pathetic excuse for a handset in to the nearest river, than i would with Vodafone.

How many times??!! The phone isn't broken, the model substandard.  It should never have been sold.  I've attached my first three previous letters as its obvious now that no one even bothered to read them, nevermind reply.

Hi Ruby_soho

I have removed your attachments as your number was visible in the letters. If you would like to re-add these that will be fine however for security I would remove any personal information.

Thanks

Matt

Re: 5230 rubbish phone

I’ve had this phone for nearly two years now and have had a few annoying issues with my Nokia 5230.

when i first got my contract for £10/month i wasn't told that the phone would need to connect to the internet and to save paying payg internet charges i needed to add internet connecting to my contract for an additional £5/month which i wasn't happy about.

It's permanently connected to the internet which drains the battery, and it constantly sends random letter and number messages to an unknown number which is something to do with My121. This fills up my sent and received message box all the time which i need to go through every night to clear them out... Both problems cannot be fixed by Vodafone and i cannot wait for my contract to end. I've always used Vodafone and Nokia as PAYG and thought i'd try a contract. it's been my first and only contract, i can't wait for it to end and i'll never do it again. from now on I'm staying away from Vodafone and i'm avoiding Nokia phones.

The touch screen on this phone is amazing though and up until recently where it totally crashed causing me to lose all of my information and apps, it's been ok.

Re: 5230 rubbish phone

Awful isn't it.  Don't expect any help from Vodafone with it.  I've had to fork out and buy an iPhone 3g (which seems like futuristic alien technology compared with the 5230-poor-excuse-for-- phone) and write the 5230 and vodafone off as a lesson learnt.

Re: 5230 rubbish phone

The My191 app is a voda special that is a pooly coded bit of filth that does strange things to all nokia's, it is possible to remove it with some digging in the app menu

there is no need to buy a data plan if you don't want to use any of the internet features, simply disable the 3G access points (excluding the MMS one so you can still send picture messages) somebody badly advised you there

Re: 5230 rubbish phone

To remove my191 go to settings, look for installed applications, in the list you'll find An app called selfservice. Tap and hold on it until a menu pops up and select delete. All fixed. The 5230 is a good device, but with branded firmwares and memory eating wastes like my191 it'll run like poop. I suggest checking dor software updates on your pc for the phone as it'll run more stable.
