Dropped Calls

Greetings, I have just upgraded to a N8 and I LIKE IT VERY MUCH. The problem I have however is that it drops calls. Is that normal? I was on speaker phone, twice it cut me off. Perfectly good signal (I have a sure signal at home). Then, when I put the phone to my ear, my mate could not hear me. Very worrying, I would hate to have to return the phone. I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks, fuzzy2

Re: Dropped Calls

have you tried a software update. sadly nokia did release a few early models with problems which were not noticed until a few weeks into productions.

Try a software update, or ask for a replacement if you are within your 14 days (if it's still 14, as it may be 7)

failing that ask nokia about it. If it's one of the devices affected they'll send you a replacement out.

Or send it to VF's repair centre to see if they can sort it.

Hope that helps

Paul!

Re: Dropped Calls

Hi Paul, thank you for your response, I have tried the software update but am told that my sw is up to date. I will just keep an eye on it and take it back to the shop if it happens again. BTW, it is only seven days now to take back a phone.

Re: Dropped Calls

The issue with the early handsets has nothing to do with dropping calls,

a handset with the manufactuing issue will at some point randomly start freezing up, before shutting down and refusing to boot up again,

if left alone for some random interval in a cool dry place it may decide to come alive after the power button is pressed

dropping calls is not a usual symptom for an N8 is it only when it's connected to the SS that it does this or has it happened when out and about ?

Re: Dropped Calls

Hey this kept happening to me too but eventually a slight annoyance has turned into total phone failure.  It used to just cut out and I though I had hung up the call with my ear then it started switching off during a call then Xmas morning I phoned someone and it switched off and will not go on again.  Will not charge either.

I believe this is a known issue but haven't got to a vodafone shop yet to confirm.  Only had it about a month.

Re: Dropped Calls

[ Edited ]

thanks for letting me know it's 7 days now! :smileyhappy:

i suggest sending the device back to Vodafone, if the situation has not improved.

one more thing to try here. Changing the network selection to GSM for a day or two to see if it improves.

Re: Dropped Calls

Hi,

This has started happening to me a lot and I have had my phone for 13 months. I'm on the phone and it cuts off after approx 8 mins but not all the time... Its getting very annoying... Could it be anything to do with updating to Belle... Be grateful for any responce. thanks :-)

Re: Dropped Calls

Not a general  belle issue,

I would try re-installing Belle using nokia suite

If this doesn't clear the problem avoid voda repair and take the phone to a nokia care centre, you can find your nearest using the nokia uk site
