Hi,
Briefly my Vodaphone 95 8gb is about 3 years old now and it's been a great phone for me, some niggles but great none the less.
I have always updated my phone via the Nokia software suite via my PC using XP home and have had no problems updating the latest phone firmware when needed.
Recently I discovered there are no more updates for my phone, I also use the Nokia PC suite to make a back up of my phone contents. again no problems.
I have just installed the new RC version of Win 7 and getting to grips with that and along the way discovering which software or existing applications will run on/with the new OS, so far not that many problems and Win 7 has XP mode/virtulisation, a very good application but something to be wary of IMO.
I have downloaded the most recent Nokia PC suite but am running into problems.
The 1st being clicking on the Nokia updater it can not find my phone regardless of what USB port I have the cable plugged in to on the PC. I am wondering if that's because there are no more updates to be had for my phone but usually a window would appear informing you your phone has the latest updates, this is no happening, it cant find my phone.
The next problem and a lot more worrying for me is I use my phone a lot as a camera and upload my pictures using a Belkin Bluetooth dongle, never had a problem until today, I can not get the N95 to recognise or connect to the dongle under WIN 7, I cannot transfer a photo from my phone to my PC using bluetooth.
The dongle firmware has been updated.
I visited the Nokia site and found, ( I think ), driver updates for bluetooth and IR for the 95.
My problem is I haven't a clue what to do now, I down loaded both drivers thinking all I had to do was plug in the cable and the drivers would upload, of course nothing that simple, could someone advise me how to do this?

Unless you can find a PC with XP on I don't think there's a great deal you can do. Windows 7 is still only beta, so it shouldn't be used to replace XP or Vista as yet. You'll find that what a lot of W7 testers have done is used 2 drives. One for XP/Vista and one for W7 so they can swap between the two to cover for any problems.

Thanks Sticky Mick,
Win 7 isn't beta, it's an RC.
WiN 7 allows itself to run in XP mode, Win 7 has a virtual partition that has Win XP pro installed that allows you to use it like any other OS, download, upload, emails, run older XP programs that type of thing.
While using XP mode is not a step back, it's going to get a lot of people out of a lot of trouble, it's not progression either.
Regardless of dislikes or likes of any new OSs, the problem isn't WIN 7 or any other OS, it's the 95 and me.
As I wrote, I downloaded 2 drivers from the Nokia site I think will help, I don't know how to install/transfer these two drivers either on to my PC or phone, they are not self loading or click and install firmware.
I'm not that PC savvy so using simple instructions can you advise me please on how to achieve this?

Ah, so it's actually out of beta then? Sorry for misleading.
OK, so what format are the two files in? If it's xxxx.ZIP or xxxx.RAR, then they need to be decompressed with WinZip or similar program.
Sometimes there's an option to right click the file and select "install" from the drop down context menu. This works if the files have a .INF extension.
If that's not the case then you may need to install the files through "Device manager" via the "Update driver" option.
I'm surprised Nokia didn't supply some sort of read me with the files.

No worries,
When I right click the driver file, then install, a window pops up informing me while it is an INF file, it doesn't support this type of installation.
So went to device manger, every installed driver is up to date.
When I cable connect my phone under Win 7, no problems except the blue tooth issue and looking under device manager for the connected phone, again no problem.
When I plug in the dongle, under device manger, then there are issues, there are no driver updates to be had.
I think the problem lays with the fact 64 bit drivers are required and the Belkin dongle only have 32 bit ones available, also explains why the original program won't work under XP mode, ( I think ).

even tho WIN 7 has the backwards compatability built in i think neither Vodafone or Nokia will support you if it does not work, your best place to find help will be the Nokia forums or trying to email Nokia as its their software/device.
If i have helped please feel free to click on the Thumbs Up below

Hi 14all
We haven't had much experience with Windows 7, well apart from myself on an Asus R2H tablet where i spent a good week searching for drivers etc.
Ultimately we can't provide support on your operating system or any drivers involved, as mentioned by Jebelious your best source will be Nokia or their forum content, hopefully some members there will have had a play with Windows 7 and Nokia, or at least be willing to co-experiment.
Thanks

I think Windows 7 is still a bit young to be relied on for everything at present. And a lot of hardware vendors still don't support XP/64 either.
Having said that, hasn't XP/64 got it's own generic bluetooth drivers? I'm sure I've connected my N95-2 using my BT dongle with XP generic drivers.
As jebelious said compatibility mode isn't guaranteed to solve all issues. Still doesn't in XP either.
