Please help!
I have a Nokia 5230
My phone is continuously connecting to the Internet and its killing my battery. I disconnect it via the "connection manager" in Settings but within a couple of minutes it has reconnected without asking my permission. I think its the "Packet Data" connection and on the Admin settings i have it as "when needed". There isnt the option to enable the connection ONLY when checking with me first.
I really want it to stop but i just cant find whats causing it to connect up in the first place. When the connection is in place, information is being passed between the internet and the phone but i cant honestly see what is being down/up-loaded.
Any suggestions would be most welcome!

I have a similar issue with the 5800. I think it is the Nokia messaging client. This is the client that allows you to aggregate email accounts through email.nokia.com. It would be good to know if you have installed this client.
I intend to remove the client to test the theory but I have not yet got round to it. The issue is obviously not yet bothering me enough to go through the hassle of testing.
If it is the messaging client then it is not working as intended. I have mine set to switch on at 10am and off again at 10pm but the devices will happily hang onto a connection all night!

Hi MrsMac1V
Welcome to the eForum
it is always good to see new faces on here
I have to admit that 3G does us a lot more battery that normal gsm/2g. To help save the battery on the phone you can change it to 2G only.
To do this:
Menu Key > Settings > Connectivity > Options > Open > Network > Network mode > gsm only > Ok
If you do need to browse the internet, you will need to do this and select dual mode or it will run at a low speed.
