Nokia 5800 Problems

Hi there,

I have a Nokia 5800 from Vodafone (already unlocked) but have had significant issues getting it to connect to Nokia PC Suite.

I was wondering when Vodafone expects to release v.60 firmware for this handset? Nokia have already released it but they say it is up to the network for branded phones.

I'd like to do a full reset of the device but even after pressing red, green and the camera button on startup the issues with PC Suite continue, I've been in touch with Nokia who did troubleshooting but their advice was to talk to the network as they thought phone had issues.

Obviously the handset is out of warranty but Vodafone's comment would be appreciated.

Thanks :-)

Re: Nokia 5800 Problems

Hello Smasher,

Thanks for your post.

I'm afraid I cannot share any information regarding any updates to the firmware for your 5800. More information on our firmware policy can be found at the link below:

Firmware Explained

If the handset is out of warranty then I'm afraid we would only be able to arrange for a paid repair and more information about our repairs process can be found below:

We may be able to help with an upgrade. If you'd like help with this then please follow this link to your PM Inbox and follow the instructions so we can get in touch.

Cheers,

Re: Nokia 5800 Problems

@Smasher,

Since your 5800 is out of warranty you could debrand the phone and change the Vodafone product code to UK or Euro1 code, then update with NSU. Or (especially if you're still getting issues with PC software connectivity) take it to a Nokia Care point, explain the problem and ask them to install v60.

(Have you tried completely uninstalling PC Suite, then reinstalling, to see if that helps with connectivity?)

Oops, should have mentioned Nokia Care will charge for any physical/hardware repair as out of warranty, but update should be free.
