Nokia 5800 screen failure - emergency!

[ Edited ]

I'm in France for a couple of weeks, and rely on my phone to keep in touch - it's a Nokia 5800 Express Music. The screen has been increasingly flaky but has always come back again after a few slides of the on-off display button, or at least after a restart. Now it won't come back at all, all I've got is stripes. It is still under contract, until August. I can't do without it. What can you do to help?  I can probably buy a cheap phone here in France but can I transfer the sim card? Will you reimburse the cost of the extra unwanted phone? PLease advise asap via email to ***********

Apols for hijacking the discussion board - please forward to whoever can deal with this.

Re: Nokia 5800 screen failure - emergency!

HI Kate

All you will be able to try for the moment will be to take the battery out whilst the phone is still turned on and try again with the battery in the phone followed by a manual roam if you are able to.

If you purchased a cheap unlocked phone in France, you would be able to use your UK SIM.  It would be unlikely you would get reimbursed for the phone, you are able to use your SIM in any phone and the phone is separate from your contract.

If you are still having problems, you will be able to send the phone off for repair as soon as you are back in the UK.
