when i connect to the internet instead of it saying connecting vodafone wap
its coming up with connecting with mms?

why is this happening and will i get charged for going on the internet via mms settings?

spoke to vodafone rep last night and he couldnt help as the phone is new and they dont have up to date instructions yet??

please can someone help - also it keeps cutting off the internet when i get on!!!

Hi karagor

Sorry to see that you are having a few difficulties with the internet settings.

As the help centre is not live yet with the Nokia N8, I don't have a set up guide on how to change these.

The settings do need to be:
wap.vodafone.co.uk
Username: wap
Password: wap

I am sure on of our members can help to change this if you are having difficulties in changing these on the phone.

thanks ill have a look. can you tell me though if it is coming up as connected via mms will i be charged or will it still be internet through packet data?

You shouldn't be charged for this if you do see a charge for the data because of this, please give me a shout and I can then take a look on your account.

In Internet your wifi access points should be higest priority
followed by voda live and voda gprs

contract mms can be moved to uncategorised by long pressing
move to other destination
then stick it in uncategorised

all i have is -- WLAN --- contract internet -- contract WAP -- PAYG WAP -- PAYG Internet...

and no they cant be moved,  they are 'protected network destinations'

Just to clarify Voda Live would be Contract WAP/PAYG WAP, and Voda GPRS would be Contract Internet/PAYG Internet.

The services are the same, it's just a different way of naming them.

I trust this helps, but let me know if you've any further questions.

oh, right. i understand. Is there a difference between WAP and GPRS? 1-which is faster/more efficient data usage? 2-as a monthly contract owner(with 500MB thrown in), would i be charged if phone connects to PAYG 'destination' or are the settings the same? 3-why do vodafone restrict altering or even viewing settings on network connections? 4-if im gonna be charged for PAYG dial in, how do i go about deleting a protected entry?
