Any suggestions?

Hi Rusty5010
This sounds to be very annoying.
I've had a quick search in the Nokia N900 forums and it does seem to be happening to quite a few devices.
Something to try, go to the Catalogues in App Manager and Nokia System Software Updates, then try disabling the "Nokia System Software Updates" repository, exiting App Manager, then going back in and re-enabling it. That should force an update of all the repository metadata.
There are further work arounds on the Nokia forum, but they involve manually installing data.
Let me know how you get on.

It's not the catalogues that are at fault. If you're still on Vodafone firmware you're phone is suffering from PR1.3 deficiency and will continue to do so until you either flash to generic firmware or Vodafone release the PR1.3 firmware update.
The application packages that are missing are things like libraries and dependencies that the applications require. The application developers have rewritten their applications to take advantage of the updated libraries and dependencies in PR1.3. If your libraries and dependencies are out of date, as they would now be in PR1.2, the updates are not going to install until they are up to date.

I tried that Trev, absolutely the same message and still cannot update the apps in question.
As Mick has said perhaps it is because Vodafone are holding back on the 1.3 firmware update, and this is preventing the software running correctly. I remember having similar problams while waiting for the 1.2 update.
Surely this is good enough reason to terminate my contract early if VF are holding back updates that are stopping me using my device effectively and to their true potential

Vodafone's stance on this (as stated in the last raging firmware debate) is, "as long as you can make phone calls and send texts, then your phone is deemed "Fit for purpose" ".

I quoted this in an email to VF and got the same standard response
"The software updated on the device provided by Vodafone are installed by Vodafone branded software.
You'll not be able to install the unbranded software on the device. If you install the unbranded software on the device the manufacturer provided by Vodafone will not longer be applicable. You can find the latest firmware of your phone by clicking
here.
Trust the above information is useful.
Kind regards, "
I have reached a point now where my N900 is totally unresponsive, and just hangs, I have to reboot it, and sometimes it works first time.
I now believe that with VF holding back the 1.3 update, I now cannot receive call or messages, so I think I am not being supported as I should be, and therefore I am well within my rights to cancel my contract
Message to Mods ~ If you are going to reply, don't bother if you are going to roll out the same old corporate standard tripe you try to palm us N900 users off with, it is getting a bit tiresome.
When it gets to a point when the forum members are telling us how to rectify our problems, and the Mods are pointing us in the direction of the posters because they don't know the answers, it makes me think that VF have just left this device to die, If they are not even prepared to help alleviate the probelms themselves.
I'm VERY annoyed and disheartened with Vodafone.

Why dont you just flash to 1.3 and be done with it. It does not void the nokia warranty at all and your phone will become workable once more!
