Hi everyone
I need some advice please as I am starting to get really frustrated. I have had a nokia n900 for over 12 months now and it has been fantastic until the screen stopped working so I got in touch with Vodafone and they arranged for it to be sent off for repair. Anyway, I have had the phone back for about two weeks now and it has started to play up again not just with the software but the device itself. I keep geeting a message on the top of the screed with a sim card with a cross through it, my instant thought was that vodafone had suspeneded the phone but that wasnt the case, I have to continually reboot it in the hope it will reconnect to the network. When it came back from the repair sentre I noticed a very minimal gap between the top of the screen and the casing that didnt bother me to much but this evening I have gone to charge it and the charge connector has fell out. I started off with a small problem with the screen and nowits falling apart I hate to think what will happen if I send it off again what do you all suggest???????
regards
Jambarine

Are you getting this message?

I had to return 2 N900,s to nokia for free repair because of all telephony functions are disabled due to a communication error
Nokia returned my N900 7 days later with note saying
Product: N900
Status:Repaired
Your product has been repaired in our repair centre and has been shipped back to you.
But soon as i inserted the sim card and powered up handet the same message appeared telephony functions are disabled due to a communication error!
Great Repair That Was Nokia!
I ended up putting a piece of paper folded a couple of times placed under the battery where the SIM card is ![]()

as for your problem, if it came back like that then its a hardware fault. if its just started doing that then there is a possible fix which can't be mentioned here :-D
so i'd just send it back in but make sure you stress to them that its a hardware fault otherwise they'll just flash it and send it onto someone else who needs a repair

I already fully understand the repair process as i work for nokia!
This is a becoming a very common fault on N900 now and even if you make a point to them that its a hardware fault
the fault can be intermitent if fault doesnt appear when a engineer checks the phone they will just return your handset.
As i stated a temp fix is to putt a piece of paper folded a couple of times placed under the battery where the SIM card is
mine has worked perfect for last 5 months doing this

nokia's head office 01252 866000 Ask for the mms support or in house complaint team. your N900 will come back fixed or brand new.
They can also check the previous repair via IMEI number too! (even if VF fixed it)
Paul.

you don't need to work in their forums to make a guest appearance
is it a general type of job or do you only deal with one platform?
