Nokia N95 8gb - Vodafone Approved Software Update

The first certificate Vodafone (Trusted Applications) is valid from/until 31/10/2012 (?)

I debranded and couldn't care less about the VF apps, wouldn't reinstall if I was offered.

Hi shatnersbosun,

Sorry, I repeated the valid until date, It shoud have read:

Valid From: 31/10/2007
Valid To: 31/10/2012

Thanks,

Ian

Nokia N95 8gb - Vodafone Approved Software Update

Hi everyone,

Wow we seem to have some very technical users posting here lately! I just wanted to pop in to reiterate what Claire stated regarding the Vodafone branding on these Nokia handsets.

While Vodafone certainly won’t restrict you from de-branding the phones, doing so does unfortunately void the warranty service that we supply. In short, you will still be covered by Nokias service warranty but please be aware that this can create delays in the future should you have to send off the phone directly. It can even prove costly if your N95 8GB needs taking in for a repair with their service centres. For moré information check out our ‘Branding Policy’.

I know sitting around waiting for the Firmware update to be released is inconvenient, especially when you’re tempted so much to just wipe the phone out and risk not getting the full range of services. Trust me when I say that we’re all over Nokia at the moment to get this out as soon as possible. After all the N95 8GB is still in demand with our sales teams despite being discontinued some months back!
I just ask that you’re patient for the official word from Nokia before doing anything too hasty. :)

As soon as we manage to score an update, you’ll find the relevant Firmware here on Nokias help-centre. If any N95 8GB users out there are coming to the end of their contracts, you can always have a quick nosey on our upgrade section for the most up to date devices.

Cheers, Ben

Nokia N95 8gb - Vodafone Approved Software Update

Hi,

Just Wanted to Check and may help others too, I got a TXT & E-mail from Nokia to say there was a Update for the N95 8GB (Phone Already De-Branded as is a second hand phone!!).

I have checked it Against Nokia's Software update and says firmware Version 31.0.015 for Product code: 0557135 (Vodafones Product code?) is Avalible, (http://www.nokia.co.uk/get-support-and-sof...te/can-i-update)

Just if Vodafone customers are upgrading to the newer Firmware, are they going to loose the features mentioned in the Branding Policy

Would some one from Vodafone please be able to Comfirm that this is the new Firmware for the N95 8GB as alot of people have been asking about the Firmware for the nokia N95 8GB.

Cheers

Kev

I've upgraded my branded N95 8GB to v31 now, seems to be working fine. Also, the firmware is still VF branded so this has obviously been in the works for a while.

i don't think that's how it works. i think we'd all imagined the vodafone firmware department beavering away. i think what actually happens is the changes they wanted were already specified when the handset was introduced, all they do now is write a cheque to nokia and the changes they have already asked for are made.

Hello,

This has now got me totally stumped. How many people work in the technical services, e-forum administrators and Customer services and do any of you talk to each-other?

List of comments from above people:
1. Update will be out withing 2 weeks (July 2008)
2. Will be about another 2 weeks (August 2008)
3. Give it another month as nokia have not supplied us with it (December 2008)
4. Nokia told me vodafone had not yet approved it (December 2008)
5. Administrator on e-forum told us they not planning on an update (December 2008)
6. DaveN (Admin) informed everyone vodafone would not be offering/supporting new FW (Dec. 2008)
7. Confirmed that vodafone has stopped selling the phone (Jan. 2009)
8. Informed poeople you where still selling it online until stock runs out. (Jan. 2009)
9. Told if change in FW support will be notified ASAP (Jan. 2009)
10. More warnings about people de-branding their mobiles - void warranties (Feb. 2009)
11. Informed the HTC mobile will be the first vodafone unbranded phone (June 2009)
12. Get Text and Emails telling me there is a new FW update for my mobile (June 2009)
13. Vodafone say they wont stop you from de-branding, but if you do the warranty is void (June 09)

Just look at the list above, it looks to me that vodafone need to get all the main people talking. If they start talking it wont make you look a laughing stock to forum members.

I know you are all trying to help, but please talk to each other and you also might find things out that you really should have known.

So the big question is: Has vodafone released FW version 31.0.015.

Hey Everyone,

Great news, its official 31.0.015 is live now! :D

You know what to do, enjoy! :D

If you don’t know what to do, you can access PC Suite> Software updater>connect the phone, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Remember to back up your phone before you update! :D

Hello,

Yes!!! I can confirm that a Vodafone FW update for the N95 8Gb is out and works. I installed it last night and also installed the new version of Nokia Maps (NOW: Ovi maps mobile 3 BETA).

Everythink seems to be working great upto now, but still think we could have been notified it would be coming out for our mobiles or was it the preasure we all give VF on this thread. Guess we will never know, but it seems fine to me. I did notice the download if around 7Mb larger than Nokia's Generic download, but it VF's includes extra's which might be usefull.

A big thank you to the e-forum Admin team and all who posted here, as it looks like we've all got the technical people listening to us. Keep us the good work.

PS: If anyone is interested in the new version of Nokia Maps, follow the link below and read the instructions to get ovi maps on your mobile.

Yeah, everything seems to be fine here and maybe even a little speedier. Ovi maps is much better than the old Nokia Maps as well.

Hello,

I have been using the new vodafone FW since it came out and only ever had one problem and that only took a quick call to sort it out. Musicstation informed me that I had basically been stopped from using it, after giving the code over the telephone and getting informed it should be fixed quickly and someone would call me. I'm still waiting for this call, but musicstation was working within an hour.

This FW is much better and I still say this thread would not have been here if vodafone had only release this in the beginning or at least within a month of Nokia's update.

Please vodafone learn from this and provide updates as they are due or just dont brand phones.

Thanks everyone,

Ian

Re: Nokia N95 8gb - Vodafone Approved Software Update

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me please.

I`m not very good with phone tech stuff and dont know if I should be posting this problem here. As far as I know I have never updated my N95 8gb since my nephew gave me it 5yrs ago. I have just started to not be able to receive any txts on it. I have been through all the stuff like emptying my inbox and turning my phone off I even tried sending myself a text lik,e vodafone suggests, but still cant get txts.

Could my problem be because I havent upgraded the software??

Thankyou :smileyhappy:

Jackie

Re: Nokia N95 8gb - Vodafone Approved Software Update

Hi

I have managed to find a solution to my problem about not receiving txts

All I had to do was to refresh the network on my phone. phewww I`m soo happy I can now receive txts again.

Only one problem though, all the txts  in the last 2days which I thought had been sent hadn`t, so they have just gone ooppps hope no-one has been woken up, I`ve just noticed the time :smileyembarrassed:

I`ve just received 8 txts in a row, so glad I`m still awake lol:smileywink:

If anyone has the same problem as I did, the solution was.

1..go to menu

2 then tools

3 then to settings

4 then to phone

5 then to network

6 then to operator selection

7 select manual, it will then search for networks and give you a list

8 select one that is NOT your network, it will then give you a message that says no access

9 then reslect your network eg vodafone, and that will refresh your network connection

I then started getting all my txts that peeps had sent me one after the other lol. and it also sent all my txts so beware dont do this solution during the night like I did oopps.Unless of course you do want to wake some one up. I am just imagining the telling off that I`m going to get in the morning :smileysurprised:

I know you all probably know this solution, but just incase there is someone who doesnt I thought it might help by posting it. Hope that was ok :smileyhappy:)
