Nokia N97 Screen Broken

The screen has decided to stop working today.
Phone powers up fine and still works but the screen is damaged and I cant make out anything on the screen.
I dont have insurance so what can I do? Will I have to pay for repair?
Regards
Ross

If u take the phone into a vodafone store it can be sent away as a warranty issue if its still in contract and then if the fault was due to damage caused other than just breakdown of the screen, say dropped or got wet then it may be done under warranty, but if its not then the store should be able to provide u with a cost before hand or before the repair is done someone should contact u.

Hi Rosspetrie and welcome to the eForum

As mentioned by Wlshrosco our devices are covered by a Vodafone Warranty (and in most cases a manufacturer's warranty as well).

Simply take the phone into one of ourVodafone stores (I've linked to our online store locator) and it can be sent off for a repair. Please continue to update us on your progress.

Thanks

Visited the vodafone store on princes street in Edinburgh today.
After waiting for 20mins to be served i was told they could do nothing and they walked away. So super helpful!
Now with 12 months left of my contract what am I supposed to do? £30 a month and they wont even look at it?
Regards

You could take the phone to a Nokia Care point, there's two in Edinburgh according to here: http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4228006 Phone them, see what they say.

AIM Centre Ltd
26 Dalry Road
Edinburgh, EH11 2BA
Tel: 01315398087

Carphone Warehouse (Edinburgh)
94 Princes Street
Edinburgh, EH2 2ER
Tel: 08701421717

Personally I'd avoid the CPW one.

Hello Rosspetrie

If the handset will not be accepted via store you will have to follow Shatnerbosun's suggestion and take it into a Nokia Care point. Please continue to update us on your progress.

Thanks

Cant say I was particularly happy with the in store help so I emailed Vodafone directly.
Received a reply today and they are sending a pre - paid envelope to return the phone for repair.
Great news, still dont understand why the person who served me in the store was so very unhelpful.
Nevermind though

Rather than repair your phone VF might send you a refurb.

either way im quite happy.
Being honest the N97 has been one of the worst phones i have had the pleasure of owning.
I will endure it until the contract is up then no more nokia's for me.
