Unlocking mobile phone

I have a Nokia 6111 which was Pay as you go with Vodafone. I transferred my mobile number to a different network and so the old sim was invalid. I got a new sim card and tried to log into my online Vodafone account to change the details but kept getting an error message. In case that sim was faulty I recently got a new one, but have the same problem. My account is still there, but I can't do anything at all with it.

I would like to unlock the phone but I've received a reply from Vodafone to tell me I need to pay for this. Is this correct please as the phone is quite an old one and definitely over 12 months since I got it?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Unlocking mobile phone

I have had a further update on this situation.

I contacted live chat who told me it wasn't possible to update my details on my old account and I would have to create a new one.

I also heard from nucresolutions who told me that, should I wish to unlock my phone, which is well over 12 months old, I would be charged. I replied to them, explaining the circumstances and had confirmation from them just a few minutes ago that I would be charged.

Re: Unlocking mobile phone

Hi caitlynd,

Once a phone is over 12 months old we can get the unlock code for you free of charge.

Before going any further, have you tried a non Vodafone SIM in the phone already as a lot of the older phones come already unlocked.

If it’s not already unlocked then please take a look at the PM that I have sent you and follow the instructions on the PM and one of the team will be able to pick this up for you.

You can find your PM inbox here.

Re: Unlocking mobile phone

Thank you very much. I have tried a non Vodafone sim and it's not unlocked. I've now carried out the instructions in your pm and will wait to hear from you.

Thanks again!
