Whatsapp is in the process of rolling out another major update, which adds a heap of new camera features to its messaging app.

The update, which is currently only available to Android users, gives you new ways in which you can customise your messages and enhance photos and videos you share with your friends.

The most exciting new feature allows you to write or draw over photos and videos, as well as add extra emojis to the image or clip.

The new editing tools are really easy to find – when you take a new photo or video or share one that is already stored on your smartphone, the new editing options are displayed automatically.

From the options you can then add text with a range of different fonts and colours available. You can also draw or add an emoji t the image before you hit send.

The new Whatsapp camera feature now supports the flash on your front facing camera so you will be able to take better selfies in low light or at nighttime.

Whatsapp also added a new zooming feature so that you can easily zoom in on a person or object when you are recording a video. To enable zoom, you just need to slide your finger up and down and the camera will zoom in and out.

You can also quickly switch between your rear and front facing camera by a quickly double tapping on your screen.

Whatsapp announced the new features in a post on its official blog.

“Today we’re introducing new ways to customize and enhance the photos and videos you share with friends and family around the world.

“With WhatsApp’s new camera features, you can now write or draw on photos and videos, as well as add emoji to express yourself.”

The Facebook owned company said the new features will be available on iOS “soon”.

Whatsapp now boasts more than one billion active users per month.
