Samsung Galaxy s7 edge 32Gb Black - My Review.

Design.

The design of the Samsung Galaxy s7 edge is solid with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 panel on the rear and front display. The workmanship is jaw dropping good with very sleek lines making it very comfortable to hold.

The power On/Off Sleep Wake button located on the right hand edge of the chassis and is tactile and solid.

The volume rocker switch is located on the left hand upper side.
The Speaker is located on the bottom right hand bottom edge part of the chassis. Earphone 3.5mm jack is located on the Bottom left hand part of the chassis and in the middle is the Micro USB charging port.

Operating System, Memory & UI.

What I found under its hood is Marshmallow. 6.0.1.

The phone has 32Gb onboard memory which I increased to 64Gb by using a San disk Ultra 32Gb Micro Sd card.

The boot up and power down is fast and the screen is responsive and very fast.

General Usage.

The s7 edge handled YouTube videos and streaming Sites with no problems at all.

Outbound calls and inbound calls are crystal clear.
The loudspeaker performed very well with no distortion even when the volume was cranked up.
My personal choice of browser is to use Google Chrome

Wifi connectivity to my Bt Home Hub 5 Home Broadband Router and shops I frequent gave me no issues ref drop outs.

The Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen,16M colours is simply awesome and vibrant and very good in sunny conditions outdoors ,and is good indoors too.

The Apps available from the GooglePlay are the usual affair of useful, eye candy and dross.

I'm not a heavy gamer but The s7 edge coped very well with games I tried out.

The ringtone alerts and Notification Sounds are loud and clear.

This something which is a want and need due to the environment I work in. The Battery seems to be holding up very well even with all the setting up.

Camera.
12MP rear facing camera and the front facing is 1.2MP. Both are good enough for what I as a casual picture taker would ever need.

Accessories I'm currently using .

Samsung Black Leather Case.

Samsung Wireless Charging Pad.

San disk Ultra 32mb memory card.

My Rating out of 10.

Just to add....

I'm still fine tuning the phones settings !

The customisation on this is off the chart.

Hi there. I agree this phone is really good having not got my note7. However my wife and I both got the s7 edge and on the edge screen with the on circle she can send me those smileys and writing but how come I cannot send any to her? All I get is call and text!!

Hi,

Yes it's a fantastic bit of kit.  :Smiling:

Can you clarify 'On Circle'

On my s7 edge when I type a text message on the keyboard their is a smiley face in the box you write in that when pressed shows what smileys you can choose.

The below link is in reference to the s6 buy the principle is the same.

Also take into account that if a text message converts from a SMS to a mms these are not part of your texting allowance and are charged for.

For some they need to contact customer services to ask for mms to be provisioned on their account.

Hi. The emoji on key board are fine. It's when you drag out the side panel and you have your contacts. When you press a contact ie my wife's they is only call and text where as my wife has option to do video and smileys

Ah I see.

Just checked my people edge and I have the same as you. Ie Call and text options under the contact picture.

I'm using a unbranded s7 edge so it maybe a setting somewhere and not necessarily firmware.

If you go into your contacts normally or phone app can you video call from there.

I recall a recent thread on video calling on Vodafone and the thought that this needs activating or provisioning on an account.

It does video calling with the following messenger app. Might take it into Vodafone shop see what they can do. Bit annoying when she can send these to me but I cannot reply the same way!
