I have recently bought an alarm that uses a SIM card, i had an old SIM card that worked, but i lost it and have since having problems withe the alarm saying 'NO SIM' - i am finding it very hard to find out further information.

The alarm company say that its an issuse with the SIM, and vodafone are saying its not - just wandering if any one else has any information?

Thanks

Hi

Are you using a Payg sim card ?

These need to be used at least every 180 days to keep them Active. Ie making calls, sending texts, using data or topping up.

If not they are suspended off the network.

yea, its a PAYG SIM im using.

Im just trying to establish if its a faulty alarm ive been sent or an issue with the SIM card, im getting thrown from pillar to pillar

Appreciate that.

Can you pop the sim card in a phone to ensure its activated.

If not then a Vodafone High street store can help.

Or Live Chat or customer service can activate it.

If they've sent you a replacement sim card with you wanting to retain the same number you'll need to sim swap via a form.

http://www.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone-uk/forms/sim-swap/index.htm

OR again Live Chat or Customer service can help.

thanks for the relpy - unfortunatly im not getting anywhere fast :(.

Ive activated and registered the SIM and it wotks perfectly in a phone - its just when its in the alarm itself it doesnt work.

I read in the ireland community forums that vodafone have to disable the 3G - but whensp eaking to customer services yesterday in the uK they said that the SIM should just work straight away and automatically just use the 2G

You're welcome.

I'm unsure about other Vodafone Networks as they are not typically linked so things can be different.

Is there any discussion forums for your type of alarm.

Can you ask where you purchased the alarm from their opinion / advice.

ive searched high and wide for the alarm - there is not one instruction manual for them - iitjus  appears to be collections from different sites.

I bought the alarm from Ebay - from an alarm specialist with a very high ratinga - and all the reviews say its a very good alarm and its reliable

You maybe able to message the seller to further ask.

Does it say anything in the description on the selling page for the alarm..

if the sim sim is working in a phone it's active and working as it should.

ivetried  contacting the seller - but they only have email support - they are trying to blame it on the SIM im using - ive since wrote back explaining ive just several SIMS. . . im beginning to think its a problem with the alarm its self

If you've used several sims which are activated and the alarm accepts any network connection then I'm leaning also towards it being something possibly with the alarm.

Although i note in your first post that it did work with a sim that was lost.
