Updating Facebook on my Vodafone Smart Prime 6 - lollipoop - Error code 504

Any else having this issue and kow how to resolve.

I've tried:

1. Restarting

2. Clearing cache and restarting

3. Having facebook on both harddrive and SD card.

And probably other things as well.

For info

Device memory currently showing:

system - 376mb

apps - 211 mb

free - 331mb

Install location pref - let phone decide

Phone has - 1.84 Gb spare space

SD card has  - 24.06 Gb spare space

Suggestions appreciated???

Hi there

Have you tried clearing the cache, data and then uninstalling Facebook?  Reboot the device and then download the latest version from the Google Play Store and install that.

Thanks. That has worked.

But the fact that I can't just press update, like I do with every other app update is a bit worrying.

Particularly as this handset was only released in May 2015, and runs pretty much the latest software (5.0.2) etc.

Does anyone know if the problem is handset hardware related, facebook software related or android version related? - any other possibilities?

From what I can find out, it does seem to be more Facebook related and basically means that the app isn't getting any data.  As it gets more and developed, the Facebook app seems to be getting bigger and more resource hungry...and more glitchy.
