What phone

I am in the US but wil be traveling to UK and Europe (mainly Italy). What phone would you suggest that would be compatible in all areas? I'm looking at Motorola Droid Maxx and Samsung Galaxy S4 Would either of these work?

The Droids are not sold in Europe but the S4's certainly are so I'd suggest that one. But make sure it's GSM and not CDMA Verizon. That technology only works in the US.
