Settings seem intact (but do a backup).
Custom Version date is 11/05/2009!
Enjoying the screen rotation. Zippy!
Vodafone sends 4 sms messages. 2 include settings for Internet and MMS. (I installed those).
Looks like Internet Search is still broken, unless someone knows better.

Initial thoughts after a few mins use. the phone feels alot quicker than before. all my stuff installed on my fone is still intact. I did do a backup prior to the update just to be safe.
No time unfortuantly to mess around more with it
Good luck to all with your updating
Vodafone: Thanks for the update, please don't leave it so long next time.

Search still broken? How can they break this? It's works on every other 5800 with v21.....
I'll check when I update mine tonight.

That is why I said "unless someone knows better". Either I am being incredibly dim (not impossible) or VF are or they have done this deliberately for reasons that are beyond me! Happy to be called an eejit.

Still nothing available for mine. Tried the NSU and via the phone.
You'll have to excuse my colossal ignorance here - is the update still only available for certain product codes? The reason I'm asking is that my 5800 is connected to my computer as I'm typing this and Windows has just popped up a balloon in the tray saying:
New phone software available
Phone software available for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Click this balloon to proceed. To update software later, use Software Updater
That all looks great, but does it take account of the Vodafone product code issues? I'm assuming not ...
Two further questions arise:
i) how will I know when a Vodafone-approved update is available - presumably I can check via the phone itself? I had a good hunt around through the menus last night and couldn't find anything immediately obvious ...
ii) presumably it will be possible to apply this Vodafone-approved update via the computer? Other Nokia forums I've been reading would suggest that doing it 'over the air' is prone to dropping the connection and hardly ever works
My apologies if any of these questions have been answered elsewhere - it strikes me the whole update process would be so much easier were it not for the need for any updates to be passed through the network operators first ...

Selecting 'Check for updates' from here contradicted the Nokia software on my PC though, as it returned the message 'No updates available' ... or is this where I'd be able to find Vodafone-approved updates? Confused? You betcha

Ignore what I said about searching for updates via the phone - the one thing I didn't try last night was the Options menu on the screen that lists the software version the phone is currently running.

I may be wrong but I don't think the update is available from Over The Air (direct on your phone). I think you can only get it via PC Suite on you computer.

I tried both and each came up saying there were no updates. I assume they haven't rolled it out to all Vodafone 5800s yet.

The best way to check for new firmware updates like the one we've just released for the 5800 is through the help centre on the Vodafone Firmware Update page. This has links for all manufacturers so if your phone has an update available you'll be able to find it here. The 5800 update 21.0.025 will be available to all Vodafone 5800s.
Whilst you're downloading the new firmware take a few minutes to register for My Account. It's a great online account management tool that can save you time as you never need to wait in a queue for customer services
Let us know what you think of the new firmware.
Cheers

I've just clicked your link Jay and ended up on a page on the Nokia site where NSU is downloadable. Are you saying I can now go ahead and update my 5800 using this, irrespective of my product code? Is the product code issue now cleared up? Apologies for my continued thickness ...

Yes, the only way to update is to use NSU.
