Apple iPhone - App recommendations and discussion

I only got my iPhone a couple of days ago, so I'm still exploring the App store. Some of the ones I snagged right away though are:

Amazon (I shop on this website so much it was a no brainer really)
Ebay (use this from time to time, good to track your bids when away from PC)
Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (LOVE this revamped classic, cant wait for LeChucks Revenge SE)
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Flixster
Angry Birds (addictive and tricky as heck!)
iShutup (If your a fan of Smosh from YouTube, you should recognise this one)

I see someone mentioned ebay, quick question;

I have setup my bank card and it states it will send two amounts which I will verify by checking my statement.. there is no amounts but there is a DD setup on my online banking account..will I expect that on monday (next "working" day)?as it states 24th active from.. any ideas?

Don't download Foto Free Messenger; it crashes constantly.
Do download Original Gangster / Race or die etc.. decemt enough wee apps.

Do download GTA, controls are ticky (esp on the bike!!) but fun none the less,
Do download canabalt.. a pointless running and jumping over obstacles game but good craic none the less.

Do download myst the game for the PC ported over, a FANTASTIC port over if you liked it.
Do download HBsensor.. if you love your Call Of Duty MW2 (before the update it was class!) hopefully soon to update again..
Do download Pocket God, a fun little game of pygmies that you control.. like lemmings I guess.
Do download Spore, a simple version of the PC one.. Spore creatures isnt the best..
Sims 3.... is questionable.. not a bad port but tedious.

Using a BB9800 but I miss my nokia 6820 :smileysad:

Just remembered south park games.. mega millionaire is fun but imagination land is... well poor.

Touch pyhsics and jelly car (1 and 2) are good laugh
Crazy birds (I Think) is a good laugh too.. so pointless but addictive.

For the golfers - Golfshot GPS - it's £18 which is a lot for an app but when you look at the price of Skycaddie and other GPS systems for golfers.....it's a snip! I used it for the first time on Sunday at my local course and it's brilliant - easy to use and the post match stats are brilliant, as well as being a good way of keeping track of Fairways hit, greens in regulation and how many putts you did - although you need to put them in as you score. It works out your points on the Stableford system as well for that course provided you put your handicap in, plus on the round it can keep the scores for up to 4 golfers.

Hello from a Newbie!

Had my iPhone a week to replace dying Nokia phone, dead Sansa View (MP3 player) and obsolete Palm Zire 72 that I used for diary and documents.
Its nice to have it all in one elegant place!

I just got a copy of NDRIVE and (IMO) very nice app. And cheaper now: it is currently £4.99!! You can't go wrong at that price.

My favourite free APP is Puniverse. Fantastic if you like gazing at the stars.

Cheers

If anybody's ever lusted after a tenori-on but baulked at the price then they need to check out Aurora Sound Studio HD for the iPad. It's not cheap at £24 but better than spending £900 on the real thing.

For anybody looking to update to iOS4 on Monday when it is released, look into getting the app called Sciphone Wallpapers. I know there are several wallpaper apps but this one seems nicer than most.

On loading it shows a load of categories from whcih you choose one and you can scroll throguh pages upon pages of wallpapers all at the iphones native screen resolution. You can preview each one in full screen and it'll even put a fake lock screen on so you can see what it will look like.

A single click later allows you to save the image to your camera roll ready for applying to your lockscreen and then on Monday and thereafter, to your homescreen background.

Don't know what it's like on BBAW, but in the App Store you click on the 'Buy' or 'Free' button, enter your passward and... that's it. Not sure how it could be made any easier.

I'm totally new to iPhones, I've had my iP4 a couple of weeks but have already found a few nice apps which would also work on iP3.

Most are free

Dragon Dictate - converts speach to text then you can sms, twitter, facebook etc.
Google Mobile App - just speak in to phone and it will do a search, suprisingly acurate.
Sound Touch - great app if you have a toddler, keeps them ocupied for ages
Cineworld - to see whats on at your local cinema and book tickets
iPicasso - lets you view and upload to Picasa web albums
Mirror In Your Pocket - it's a mirror, what more can I say
Redlaser - best barcode price checking app I've found

Dragon Search is one of the best free Apps I have ever downloaded, along with AroundMe and Flixter. Also recommened justin.tv for watching free live streaming.

I've just started playing OSMOSIS. It's incredibly addictive but eats iPhone 3Gs battery really fast. Well worth it though.

I think being able to ring people would be good....Never know in the future you might give me(and many others) 1 bar of signal and if we are extremely lucky maybe even 2!
