Vodafone 845 Screen / Keypad Padlock

Hi
I've just bought a Vodafone 845, second-user.
In the user manual it say that to lock the handset, so that you don't make accidental calls from your trouser pocket, you have to .....
Press the Power button on the top of the handset. Then when you want to unlock, you press one of thebuttons below the screen, and
swipe the Padlock graphic across the screen to unlock.
When I press the power button, what happens is.., the screen goes black/blank. Then when I press on one of the below-screen buttons , the front screen re-appears, and the padlock graphic on it still seems to show unlocked, and therefore when I swipe it across the screen it doesn't make any difference.
Seems to me that pressing the Power button down doesn't lock the handset. And if I give the power button alonger press, that takes me into the "Silent Mode/ Airport/ Power OFF ' sequence .
I'm new to the phone, so would appreciate some advice.

Hi amclpreston
Thanks for your post on this. I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with this. I appreciate how frustrating this must be for you.
As far as I am aware if the screen is off, you press the power key and the screen, with padlock graphic should then be displayed. You should then drag the padlock across to unlock. If this is not happening or you are not getting this option then I can only assume that the handset is faulty. You can have the phone sent away for repair if it is still under warranty. Check out the thread below for all the information you will need on how to do this.
Please let me know how you get on and if you have any more questions we’ll be happy to help you further.
Thanks
