Hi

i have a problem

im using a LG optimus 7 (windows phone 7)

on my last bill i was charge for internet usage

so i called vodafone asking why

and they told me i was over the limit

so i checked my internet usage on my bill

and saw my phone was using wap  every night at 12:00am

from like 5MB to highest of 80MB

im only on the 4thday of this months cycle and im already at 80MB for this month

any1 know why its using this???

Many thanks for your post regarding WAP usage on your LG Optimus 7.

It's going to be rather difficult to explain this, but I do have a few suggestions that may be causing the usage.

Can you confirm whether you've got location services enabled on the handset?

Are you able to see whether the handset is downloading updates?

Are push notifications enabled at all?

A suggestion would be to try turning the handset off overnight, just the once, to see if the data is still consumed by the handset.

I'd really appreciate if you could get back to me with the answers to the above questions.

Hi Location service is off And there has been any updates for the phone I do have a few push notifications But don't think it could amount to that much data How accurate are the times for online billing? As all the high usage are 12:00am And if im using it at that time i should have WiFi anyway

only use @hotmail.com and @msn.com

looking at the bills it might be data usage for the whole day???

thinking if its me started download a app via WiFi

then screen lock comes on and WiFi gets turned off

and apps starts downloading via mobile internet......

strange vodafone only chraged me once (£4.167)

on 12/04/11

and not the days afterwards

Hi Smilie,

You're spot on that what you're seeing at midnight is the day's usage and charges tallied together - it is much easier to understand to see one total amount than 30-40 data sessions over the course of a day.

The single charge suggests that that was the day when you exceeded your allowance, as you would then have been billed £5 (including VAT) for a further 500MB of data - you haven't been charged again since as you haven't finished that off.

You said that the amounts of data used each day fluctuated. Do you recall doing anything extra with the handsets on the days with larger usage, such as using satnav, social networking, streaming media or the like? Knowing that it isn't specific usage at midnight means the next thing to do is to find out if it is your general data usage which is simply exceeding your allowance.

think its most likely i started downloading apps or app updates
and the screen lock came on
so Wifi turned off automatically and it started using mobile internet

well good that vodafone only charges £5 for another 500mb
was afraid it might change into daily charges
