15 years iv had that number!!! GIVE IT BACK PLZ

Im really narcked :manmad: 15 years iv had the same number with vodafone and they have shut it off on me and now say i cant get it back no matter what! i rang just after they shut it off cuss i hadn't topped it up for some time and they said "we will look in to it and call you back within 30 days",well no call after 2 months so i ring customer service and they said that they tried calling me and couldn't get thro,(i have a answer fine so i know they didn't call),all my old frds numbers were saved to the sim and iv now lost them, including my kids that i have not seen for some yrs(i wont go in to that that's not WY im here) This was the only number they have for me,,wy is it that vodafone can't give me my number back? not as pay as you go or contract,Iv rang the number so its not been reused yet,Pl explain wy they can't just send or sell me a new sim with MY number???? I want this number back and will not buy another sim without it.

If the number was not subject to a chargable event within a set period then it is assumed to be out of use, the sim disconnected and the number returned to the general pool for recycling.

Your old number is effectivly gone and there is no way of getting it back,

Now the numbers stored on the sim should still be there and you should be able to copy them to the handset memory wether the sim has a service or not

Note I do not work for voda, My advice comes from experience and my opinions are my own

If you are still able to get incoming calls, and it has not passed the 270 deadline, you may still be able to get the number back.

Try topping up with a minimal amount and then making a chargeable call.  If the SIM accepts the top up, it will bring the SIM out of suspension.

If it has been longer than 270 days since there was any chargeable activity, you dont have a hope of getting the number back.  The number would already be somewhere in 'quarantine' ready to be reissued and Vodafone would not even be able to find the number.

There is not an infinite number of mobile telephone numbers and there are thousands of unused numbers, Vodafone would have no way of knowing whether the number was ever going to be used again after 6 months of non use.

Re: 15 years iv had that number!!! GIVE IT BACK PLZ

iv never been so let down by a network that i stuck too for so long,,,now im happy with my free HTC on Tmobile/orange for £9 a month 100 mins talk unlimited txt and internet,,can vodafone beat this and give me my number back(that my kids may get back in touch with me on) NO they cant,ok 270 day i didnt top up, even toping up £15 a month i never got from you what others offer,Its very sad you dont give a toot to someone that needs a number back for a good reason, this must be as easy as hitting a few keys(i bet all vodafone workers pick there number) is that really worth the chance of losing a 15 yr customer??????????????????

If the number was that important to you, you should have made every effort you could to keep the number active and this could have been done with regular chargeable acivity.

No network is going to keep a PAYG number active when there has been no activity for the last 8 plus months and only vodafone give you the extra 90 days to be able to reactivate the number, the other networks cut the number off after 170 days.

If you have a new SIM, copy the numbers over from the dead SIM and send your kids a test message to let them know the number, at least then, they will know how to contact you.
