Apple iPad - How do I register with My Account?

Currently MyAccount services are not available to iPad customers simply because the security SMS can not be read by the device.
Vodafone are aware of this and are looking at implementing a work around so that iPad users can use services like the unbilled usage, and itemized bills. We don't know when this work around will be available though.
In the meantime we are able to get iPad users Openzone access with a username and password.
Thanks

Do I need to supply you with any details in order to get my Openzone access up and running? If so, where do I send it to?
Also, is there any way I can check how much data I have used? I watched a football match on Sky Mobile last weekend, but I've no idea how that cut into my monthly allowance.
All the best
Colin

The eForum is a public forum designed to provide technical help and as such doesn’t require any account details to register. Therefore it isn’t the best place to get specific account issues resolved.
Usually the best option for account specific issues will be to use the Contact Us page which will allow you to deal directly with our email customer service team.
However, as you have already posted on the eForum we have sent you an email (to the same email address that you used to sign up to the eForum with) so that we can make contact directly and help get your query resolved.
To avoid duplication, as we will be dealing with this issue via email, we will now close this thread and remove it after 24 hours. If you haven't received an email from us, firstly check your Spam inbox and if still not found, please click the report button at the bottom of this thread and we will resend the email.
For more information on posting guidelines and policies, please see here.

The first posting I can find regarding this issue was 12th June 2010.
It is now 26th August 2010.
Do Vodafone now have a working solution to this problem?
Best regards,
Phil.

1) iPad SIM into phone handset (bit of trial and error to get it lined up as most phones take normal SIMs not microSIMs)
2) check that there are some bars showing signal strength
3) type *#100# then the call button to retrieve the phone number of the SIM
4) send a text containing the word "ACCOUNT" to 98776 from the same phone, and get a text back containing my account number
5) start the My Account registration process, and enter the phone number as retrieved in step 3
6) get a text with the verification code (only took a few seconds) and enter this into the verification dialog box
7) continue through the registration process, enter the account number as retrieved in step 4
It's very disappointing that you have to go to these lengths just to see why you've been over charged by £2 (thanks for that little extra twist of the knife VF by the way). The 3G service is great..the customer service is appalling.

I would like to get an Openzone Username and Password for my iPad.
It's not quite clear whether I just need to post here to get one or do I need to go via "Contact Us"
Thanks,
Tom

Went to a Vodafone store and found a friendly assistant.
Asked them if they have a phone which accepts a micro - SIM (only iPhone 4 ?) or an adaptor which will allow the micro SIM to fit a normal phone (worked on a Samsung but not a Nokia) .
Fitted iPad micro-SIM to borrowed phone, switched on and waited until "on network".
Did registration online using friendly assistants computer.
Took text registration code from borrowed phone, entered to online form, completed other details online.
JOB DONE - 20 minutes !!
This was the first time the staff in the Vodafone shop had seen an iPad (!! - Glasgow), there were no instructions available to them.
Thank goodness for real-people customer support.

- with NO training for the sales people at Vodafone
- with NO training for the Technical Department at Vodafone re the activation issue for iPads
- No infrastructure in place to handle the technical specifics for the iPad - seriously guys, it takes the average person to think "hang on, the entire account setup structure for vodafone customers is prevalent on them being able to RECEIVE texts on their device but the iPad DOES NOT gets texts... Vodafone ought to have a dedicated system for our iPad customers to enable them to do this" if we thought of this and you didn't - it is just a catastrophic mistake on your part and entirely negligent.
I have read the ENTIRE thread now and we're into almost the end of October and into Christmas... This issue was addressed in June (if I'm not mistaken) it is just awful that you still haven't found a workaround for this.
So now, we're bringing it to the forefront.
You need to face up to your mistakes and put your hands up and admit this was a cook up from the beginning.
Find someone in your PR department to face Anne Robinson and explain on national TV to the thousands of your loyal customers who have purchased the ipad on your data plan - like myself 12 years with you - why you have behaved in this awful manner.
Ps. The BBCs Watchdog program was realized specifically to address issues where the customers are treated unfairly. I think this qualifies don't you.
And I strongly urge ALL others to send in their experiences to BBC Watchdog as well. It seems Vodafone are waiting and twiddling their thumbs giving customers the brush off - until it becomes a big enough headache for them and it threatens that which all big companies hold dear - their profit.
Well Vodafone - the time is now.
Thank you.

if the issue is about data usage ,I'm not entirely sure how i-pad works ,but do know there is an app called data manager available for i-phone that will allow you to check allowance used ,perhaps this will work on i-pad

just to add to reply given where someone got it workinig by placing micro sim in ordinary handset ,can get a holder for micro sim which makes the sim normal sim size various companies supply this
http://www.blueunplugged.com/Noosy-Micro-SimCard-C
obviously it is best not to cut a normal sim but to get a proper micro sim as this will remove the all important sim number from the sim card ,however the supplied adapter may be useful for coverting micro sim back to normal size, cannot see anywhere that can buy this seperately
