Can anyone tell me how long this takes to do, i filled out the form on saturday for keeping my number from my previous server, i know it says one working day and they don't class the weekend as working days, but i thought it might have been done by now, how long do you think it will take?

Dont hold your breath. I did mine at 9am Friday and still nothing. I've tried to ring them and the person I spoke to cut me off (deliberately I'm sure) cos they couldnt give me an answer. I called back and got cut off again. I've sent two emails, no reply even though it says 4hr response. So far my experience of Vodafone customer service is crap.

I am sure Vodafone would not cut a customer off when they have called to query when a number will be ported over, most probably they are inundated with calls due to the launch of the iphone.
To answer both of your questions, number porting is usually done the next working day and Vodafone usually send you a text to let you know when the number will be live on the network which is generally late afternoon.
A quick turn off and on usually does the trick.

I'm in the same boat. Old sim has stopped working, but number hasn't ported. I guess its just due to the huge amount of people moving their number!

3 times I've been cut off and I'm sure at least two were deliberate. A good customer service would have the decency to call back instead of expecting me to wait in a long queue again. My details would have been on the screen!
Regardless of the traffic numbers, I was assured in the shop it would be a smooth transition. But here I am with an old dead iphone and a new dead iphone with my old number not recognised when I dial it. I'm supposed to be on call in case of emergencies and now I can be reached if I leave the house. I've had no text or email to confirm anything. Feel like I've been left in the dark.

I'm having the same problem too! Old number now saying not recognised when you dial it, O2 have already cut me off! I also requested the port on Friday and was told it would happen by 4pm today. Annoying!

my old number hasn't even been cut off yet, it probably is due to the iphone being released and everyone wanting to transfer there number, i will give it till tomorrow and phone up, whats the point having a new phone if you can't use it.

I replied to a post a short while ago with the same enquiry whch I hope will answer your question.

I have just spent 45 minutes on hold trying to speak to a human being and in the end decided to check out the eForum. It would appear that there are a number of people who are waiting for their numbers to be transferred having had their old provider cut them off.
I have already missed a number of very important text messages from people and at present have no idea what is going on or when I will get my old number on the new iPhone.
To be honest, I think it is a service issue and all those people who purchased their new iPhone 4S on Friday have overwhelmed the system and Vodafone are not on top of it.
I shall certainly be writing a letter of complaint if it has not been resolved this evening seeking an explanation and refund of the £3.15 I spent listening to a recorded voice for 45 minutes.
Three days as a new customer and so far not too impressed. Lets hope they can sort it out pretty pronto for all our sanity!

Guy told me to leave my phone off overnight and it should be done. However, i just switched it off for half an hour whilst cooking dinner and have just switched on to find my number has ported across finally!
I suggest all you guys try the same

Like an earlier post, I too have had something to eat and just checked and now all up and running.
I suggest that if you are having problems, turn your phone off, have something to eat for half an hour and try again!
Still a little annoyed having spent 45 minutes of my evening on the phone but shall put it down to being impatient and wanting the iPhone 4S now.
Good luck to all those still waiting.

Glad it sorted for you.
Out of interest, did you get a text to your old or new phone on the day of your transfer with any details?
Not had anything (emails/texts) since I filled in the online forms this afternoon.
