Strange how when your contract completely ends, you still get texts asking for money and your details are not removed from the database, vodashite.pngeven when you have been given a PAC code AND your number is fully transferred to Giff Gaff.

Then,

When you DO go online, you can't use the useless website (see attached image) and you are expected to use the strange five digit number to ring up (Giff Gaff charge an extra premium for those numbers)

Hi,

When did your contract end by using the PAC Code ?

I ask because it can take 2-4 weeks to supply your final bill by post. Then a £0 bill and Sorry Your Leaving Letter is sent which confirms contract cancellation.

Live Chat maybe able to officially clarify.

Hi @dotNetDev

This is the same for any network.  There are always two final bills after leaving.

The first bill may contain a credit for line rental paid in advance and your final bill showing a 0.00 balance to confirm your account as fully closed with no further responsibility towards the contract.

You will also receive a letter by post confirmating the account closure.

There is further information on your final bill below.

I’m leaving Vodafone – what will happen with my bills?

If you have any questions, please use live chat for the number you used as a customer, they will still be able to access the account and clarify and final charges.

I havn't received a final bill and I would expect it to be £0.00 , not £24 +

This is why I always advise people to cancel their direct debit to stop corporate greed.

Appreciate your opinion.

However to mention for the benefit for anyone searching for help and advice and come across this thread > Cancelling a Direct Debit prior to final payment and to receiving the £0 bill and Sorry your leaving letter can have ramifications such as Default Markers on a Credit File that will remain for 6 years.

Lets see what Ofcom have to say then.

Hi @dotNetDev

Ofcom are the industry regulator, you probably mean the Communications Ombudsman.

Any approach to the Ombudsman before trying to resolve the issue with Vodafone is likely to be met with a request for you to return to the network.  For this reason, you need to reply to the PM sent to you.  As soon as the Team have received your reply and know who you are to pass data protection, they will be able to find out what has happened and got this solved.

If you are not happy with the outcome, you at least then have something to give the Ombudsman who will be in a position to arbitrate on your behalf.

There will always be a final amount on any contract.   If you had left the direct debit in place, the payment would be collected in the normal way, and is likely to be correct.   If there's an error, you can get your bank to reclaim the money through the direct debit guarantee, though do remember that this will leave an unpaid amount the service believe is due, so you would need to resolve that as well.   It's generally better to speak to the network first.

Your screenshot would appear to show that your line has been cancelled, and the online account will disappear completely once the account itself is clear. If you want to pay a final bill manually, you should be able to do so by speaking to customer services.   You'll need 07836 191 191 rather than just 191 now that you're not on Vodafone, of course.   At the prompt for your number, just put in random digits until the system gets fed up and offers you an operator.

The final bill is always sent by post simply because the online account is closed when the number is transferred.  For anyone coming to this thread later, please note that the address used will be the one Vodafone have on record for you.  If you are also moving, the bill may not reach you and this has been the cause of unpaid amounts in the past.

Thanks.

Well the logical thing to do then is ask the customer to pay the final amount BEFORE issueing the PAC code.

Hi @dotNetDev

When the PAC code is used, it generates the final bill.

It can work both ways, if Vodafone owe you money for line rental paid in advance, when the direct debit has been cancelled before the zero bill has been received, it leaves Vodafone without any account to repay the money.
