Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

I'm with Orange & was a Vodafone customer over 2 years ago. I have had this number call some time ago - probably over a year ago - and after asking them not to call me again, I have just started to receive these calls on a daily basis.

To make it even more annoying, the person on the other end does not answer me when I answer my phone. I can hear the call center in the background, but the person is clearly busy with a different call.

This sort of thing has been all over the news in past years & it causes people an awful lot of convience & concern. I would expect better practice from an established high-street brand such as Vodafone.

Lastly, I will NOT confirm my details with anyone calling from a number that I do not recognise. How the hell do I know they are who they say they are? (ok, yes - I now know who they are after Googling the phone number).

Vodafone - STOP IT! NOW!

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

I have also received several calls from this number and having read this forum, decided to answer.

Chap was friendly enough, but like others I refused to give out personal details as it was an incoming call. He did suggest that I called 191 to verify his details and in fairness, it was confirmed as LBM, a Vodafone related company.

No idea why he was calling as we didn't get that far, but I do think to request personal details when making calls to customers is unacceptable practice, particularly in an age where we are all concerned about identity theft.

As an aside, I am looking to upgrade because I am VERY unhappy with my Nokia 5800, but I don't think I can do so until 18th July at the earliest (contract is up in September)

Can anyone help me out?

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

Got a call from this number saying "We have good news about your contract but first we must verify that it is you" to which I replied "Well give me the good news and if I want to subscribe to anything I will verify who I am." The caller wasn't too happy about that and we ended the call there. I have ticked every box saying I don't want sales calls and yet I still get them, how can I get them to stop.

Thanks in advance

Millsy

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

Just call 191 and ask them directly - they can only say yes or no, but either way you will know where you stand.  Oh and don't tell them when you think your contract is up, let them look it up !

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

[ Edited ]

I’ve just started getting calls in the last couple of weeks. Which I haven’t answered. I know my contract is coming to an end; however this is a good thing. I’m so disgusted and appalled with everything Vodafone that i will never consider signing another contract with them again.

The customer service is appalling. The only way i have found to get results is to email Guy Lawrence directly (guy.laurence(at)vodafone.com) and this actually worked.

Needless to say, i am looking forward to the day when i can say I’m no longer a Vodafone customer!

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

I'd like to say that I have started getting these calls for the last week or so, sometimes twice a day!  I have never picked it up because I'm at work when you call, and therefore have my phone on silent.  I looked up this number on Google, whicjh led me here....leaving me somewhat confused!  Where did you get my number from?  I have never been a Vodafone customer, and now am never likely to be now!  Please stop calling, I'm not interested!  And if I wanted to change my provider, I would look for myself to see what would be best!!   I want you to take me off your list!

I would also like to point out that, judging by what I have read on this forum, if one of these calls come through when I am able to take it, I will not be picking up!

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

Hi,

I would also like this number to stop calling me. My contract is due an upgrade & suddenly I get bombarded with calls from this number.

Just to note I was pretty happy with Vodafone up until now, so if I happen to change to a different supplier then you know why.

Very unprofessional and somewhat scary way of trying to get people to upgrade in my opinion. As whoever it is calling seems to expect people to hand their details over to some random number that has just called them.

Regards,

Nino

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

Hi BenJ,
No I haven't as I do not wish to give any more details than you already have of mine. What I do want to know is where you even got my number from in the first place.

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

Hi there maddie91,

Many thanks for your post regarding the nuisance calls you've been receiving.

Unfortunately, without any contact details for you, we're unable to progress this query any further.

If you can't email us your number, then we can't remove it from the dialler and therefore more calls may happen.

If you prefer, you can register your number with the Telephone Preference Service.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

I am actually not a vodaphone customer, nor have I ever been, but I've been getting calls from this number for the last few days at all hours. The caller has asked for my password.

Why does no one ever answer the question of where the heck are you getting our numbers from when we've never been Vodafone customers?!

Re: 08080600702 Vodafone?

Maddie,

It'll be an automatic dialler just trying mobile numbers at random until it finds one that works.  I'd be very surprised if anyone has actually given them your number.

John
