getting calls from the number 08080600702. Offering pay monthly contracts. Don't know how they got my number but vodafone denies calling me when I called back to official vodafone. Checked with customer services for above number to confirm whether from vodafone. Vodafone denies this number is known to them. Can vodafone moderator throw some light on this? A lot of people being harassed from this number. They are asking for bank details and card numbers.
Its the Vodafone outbound sales team calling you. Most probably a courtesy call if you are near the end of your contract or due an upgrade.
It is confirmed as Vodafone on the following thread.

I see AnnS has correctly answered your question.
To add to this, and place your mind at rest, the team call you from an automated dialing system, and don't actually enter your account unless your given a quotation, and a security check done. The dialer only gives basic name and contact number details, and does not link into your main account, as seen by customer services. For this reason, if you decline the offer, no notes are left, so customer services are unable to verify that anyone has called.
I trust this places your mind at rest.

Have you actually tried googling your sale's team number 08080600702 to see how many people are complaining about unsolicited contact?
I have had calls all week from this number (of which I have ignored) and today I googled it found out it was Vodafone sales. So at 17.56 today when I saw the number flash up again, I decided to take it to request that I be removed from the call list.
Wow, what a rude response I got! I was previously a Vodafone customer and moved to Orange two years a go as I found Vodafone's deals and customer service was very poor. Seems from my experience today your customer service hasn't improved.
Here's a verbatim transcript from my call:
Sales rep: Hi, my name is Maria calling from Vodafone.
Me: Hi, can I stop you there before you launch into a sales pitch, I am happy with my current mobile provider and do not wish to change.
Sales rep: Can I interest you in...
Me: As I said I am happy with my service provider.
Me: Please can you delete me from your call list.
Sales rep: We have some fantastic offers which might interest you in the future however Miss XXXX
Me: No thank you. Please can you delete me from your call list.
Sales rep: Isn't it the intelligent thing to do to listen to our offers?
Me: Please can you delete me from your call list.
Sales rep: Right, fine.
Firstly I asked three, yes three times to be removed from the call list and on the third attempt the sales rep took notice. Secondly, how dare Vodafone presume to tell me what 'the intelligent thing to do' is?
So listen up, clearly Vodafone customer numbers/sales are down and you feel you have to adopt this aggressive form of cold calling to try and intimidate people into using your service. Hardly a great advertising campaign is it? (I should know as I work in advertising!). You are also forgetting one vital thing: choice. We are potential customers true, but we have free will and choice. The proof of the pudding perhaps through choice, previous Vodafone customers have voted with their feet eh?
I sincerely hope you don't delete this post and pass it onto the relevant people at Vodafone in order to stop this harassment campaign. All it takes is some disgruntled recipient of these calls to start up a social network page about it. Look what Greenpeace did to Nestle and how that turned out! Brands have to be so careful in this digital communication age.
Regards.

You say speak to them?
I can't - they either hang up as I answer or no one actually speaks when I do pick up, I can just hear background noise.
If this is a sales thing then it's failing rather badly, as I now just ignore the phone call.
I also remember this happening a couple of years ago when I spoke to Vodafone about being removed from this list, apparently this has been ignored.
Awful Vodafone, just awful.

There's an article about this sort of thing on BBC Watchdog's site (I'd link to it but it'd probably be removed by a moderator, so look for a link on the front page of bbc.co.uk/watchdog with the text "Cold callers receive a frosty reception..."). Basically Ofcom will fine companies such as Vodafone £2m for this sort of thing if enough people complain.

Thank you all for posting, I'm sorry to hear of the experiences you've had from these calls. I can confirm that 08080 600702 is a number used by a third party company operating on behalf of Vodafone for marketing calls. As some of the experiences you've mentioned sound unacceptable, I've escalated this for further investigation.
cyberdyne, in order to remove your numbers from our marketing calls list simply give customer services a call on 191 and they'll be able to do it for you. Alternatively, Contact us via email and our email team will be able to organise it for you.

I have been harrassed by this number over several months and have always complained to Vodafone by phone and email, Some times they deny all knowledge, some times they promise to stop all marketing calls. Nothing works. My phone has been registered with TPS for 4 years. Calling me this often is criminal harrassment, I have reported it to TPS and Ofcom today. I will have to end my 7 year relationship with Vodafone if they can not control these rogues they employ. They are counter productive and a menace,

Also when the sales are being done - apparently they are being sold 'unlimited' internet... No such thing on Voda so upgrades beware.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I had this call yesterday and went ahead with ordering a new HTC sensation, which they said would be delivered today. Since I placed the order I have received no text message in relation to delivery, or an email confirmation. Could someone from Vodafone confirm my order was genuinie and if the phone should be delivered today?
Many thanks

The number is one of Vodafones' and this can be checked here in our directory.
If you are still awaiting confirmation of your order then I can look into this for you, to do this I will need more details so I have sent an email for you to complete and reply to.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

I got a call from this number, and I agreed to the offer. They told me to send identification proof to consumer.risk@vodafone.co.uk , but i have not received any confirmation of any kind yet. They said when they get the email they will post me the handset, but i still haven't got any calls from the number since they last called me.
Should I go to a vodafone phone shop instead of continuing with this call??

Hi martin,
This hasn't been sorted, I still haven't got any handset in the post or any update in calls. I'd appreciate it if you could chase it up for me. I was hoping to get a HTC Wildfire S (white) 24 month contract with Vodafone international (£5/month), and with student discount.
Thanks a lot.
Joyce

Hi Martin,
Actually I have changed my mind, is it ok to cancel the whole deal? I no longer wish to have the phone or the deal offered to me.
Thanks.
Joyce
